and I still like the Williams over Bush pick. :)

That Lundy guy has been decent so far. I think they can do enough to manufacture a running game w/o Davis.

you are the first person that i have seen have the same thoughts as me. Of course that was before i realized DD would be cut because i have always thought of him as a good back.

He's so good that no one will trade for him yet he'd be starting over JJ and Barber for us?
im sure nobody would trade for him because of his huge contract.. most teams have already gone to the limit, im sure, when it comes to their salary cap.. especially in the case of that big of a contract.. look at the numbers man, and consider who he played for.. the guy can play.. do i want him here, over JJ and Barber? no.. but IF he is cut, teams will be scrambling to try to get him..

I understood why they made that pick, I never liked it WG.

The reason is because I think you have to have either a special running game, or special passing attack, along with really good defense to be a true Super Bowl contender.

I don't see Carr as anything more than solid qb, and Davis as anything more than a solid rb. I didn't think that would cut it.

I don't know anything about Lundy, but I doubt if he would be a special player.

Solid player -- albeit injury prone -- with a change-up style to the guys we have. Averaging 1,000 yards per year in three-year career.

But I don't see where he'd fit in here. Barber is way too valuable as a backup to replace. Just look at how he's been running this preseason. He's picked up right where he left off last year in terms of picking up key first downs on third and fourth downs.

And I can't imagine a guy signed in early September unseating our starting running back.

Would I like to stash him away as a third option? Sure. He'd make great depth. But that doesn't seem all that reasonable.

I agree. It just does not seem likely that Dallas would be in a position to pick him up or that he would even want to come here. Especially as the 3rd stringer. I think it would be great if he became the 3rd string back because he is proven and Thompson is not. Then mMaybe between him and Julius, they could get a full season out of the position.

Hell no. The guy is an average, middle of the pack back who CAN NOT stay healthy.
are you talking about Davis or Julius? :D

anyhoo, that's another thing, Davis missed 5 games last year, but he is far from being injury prone.. but that does make his stats last year even more impressive..

"The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans RB Domanick Davis, who has been sidelined for all but two days of training camp with a bruised knee, could be in danger of getting cut. Head coach Gary Kubiak feels that he cannot gauge how important Davis is to his team if he can't even practice. "I'm very concerned," Kubiak said. "There's not much we can do about it, but I'm very concerned about that situation. It'll be a tough decision for the final 53. We'll make the decision based on what's best for Domanick and the team." Kubiak also announced that if the season started today, rookie Wali Lundy would start at running back, not Davis or Vernand Morency. Furthermore, Davis is not a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform list since he passed the Texans' physical at the start of training camp. Kubiak plans on meeting with Davis, his agent and the Texans' doctors soon."

OK, so the Cowboys aren't gonna pick him up or anything if it happens, but a team like the 49ers, Vikings, or Jets should be all over this if it actually happened.. I think that Davis is a great back, proven by what he has been able to do with that crap Houston offensive line.. imagine if he was surrounded by good players.. I highly doubt the Texans would be dumb enough to let him go..

sorry, but Davis is nowhere near as good as JuJo or Barber

I heard his injury is similar to the injury that forced Terrell Davis out of football. If that's the case then he'll be lucky to see the field again this season or ever again.

Even if it's not as severe I would have to pass on him. Why pay an an injured player to simply sit on the bench and watch games? Have enough of those type players already.

We are talking about the same team that passed on Bush, and Young,if they cut Davis, man they would look very dumb. But they could blame it on the ex GM.Hopefully Lundy makes them look good.Davis is a great 3rd down back. The boys could use him,he is a guy that make plays.

When he is healthy he reminds me of MBIII. He doesnt have a lot of wiggle or speed, but good power and hands.
I think were set with the Triple D's in the backfield.

Tell the Texans to give Danny boy a call, I'm sure he would give Davis another $20 million and throw in 4 draft choices to boot!:laugh1:

davis is a good running back that runs hard every play.........gotta love that.

he is oft injured though.

i think we got something with this three headed monster:

barber
jones
thompson

i really would like barber to be our featured back and then put julius in later when the defense is tired.

because ........believe me............our defense is going to make our opposing defenses tired alot this year.

is anyone feeling me?

i wouldn't judge a player like david carr or dominick davis based on their history with the houston texans.

hear this. david carr can be a REALLY GOOD QB in this league. but first he needs to get away from the texans franchise. ditto for davis.

carr and davis have been mired in a rudderless franchise.

get 'em away from that environment and they will likely grow into special players. especially carr. he hasn't had that luxury to date.

you watch carr and you see a tentative guy (after all those sacks - who wouldn't be?) that needs to SEE he can take more than 3 seconds to shop receivers. he prolly wouldn't know how to act.

I believe Davis was a 4th rounder. I was hoping he would be there when Dallas picked, but Houston grabbed him. Dallas took Bradie James who I like. Davis would have been good for Dallas in 2003 when they were stuck with Hambrick.

About as well as Bush's 2 yards and change per carry minus his 44 yard run.

They're both rooks and while Bush may be the more exciting player, Williams will have similar impact for the Texans defense. The Texans D ranked last in almost every defensive category last year. They had some fire power they could work with on offense, but their D was suspect. I think it's great Kubiak is building up their defense first. You gotta stop some people sometime.
