I've been off the board the past few days recharging my batteries at my mountain home up in the Blue Ridge (near Silver Bear as a matter of fact). I purposedly did not take my computer. Now , I'm back rested and ready for a big week.
Anyway, haven't heard much discussion on Dominick Davis. Personally, I like the kid, he had some impressive showings for the lowly Texans during his stint there. Didn't the braintrust at Valley Ranch consider this guy at one time? I think JJ/WP should bring him in for a look see. Who knows, he many give JuJo a run for his money. All on this board, know my feelings regarding one JuJo.
Who here can enlighten me as to the prospects of one Dominick Davis and whether he would be worth picking up?
Thoughts?

RB is the one position that I think you should always handle through the Draft, not Free Agency. RBs take a pounding. If a team is giving up on one you can bet it is because he is usually about used up. There are exceptions, Marshall Faulk comes to mind immediately. Davis is no Faulk. I'm not saying he couldn't contribute, just that I'd rather go younger at RB than older.

His injury, I can't remember if it is his foot or knee, has pretty much ended his career. So no thanks

No friend he went to LSU. 4th round pick by the Texans back in 2003.

He still awfully young and had 3 1000 yd seasons with the Texans up until last year. Haven't seen that much info regarding his injury. If he can come back he would be a great, cheap pickup.

Precisely.

If we do want to address RB - seriously, and talking starter here - it should be done in the draft. Use the pieces we have to move up if we want Lynch, or if Peterson is improbably dropping, or take a solid guy in the second round in preparation for Julius' likely exit next year.

His career is most likely over. He's been resting his knee for around a year and half and it's not any better. He can't run without serious pain and swelling.

He's only been in the league since 2003. I say what's the harm in taking a look? The guy's numbers (with a horrid OL) with the Texans are fairly impressive.

This is also a very true point. In general, free agent RBs is a bad plan, made even worse by his medical condition. Didn't he change his name, as well?

So what he's only been in the league since 2003? In 2006 he couldn't go. Red flags never excite me.

Okay, just a thought...thanks. Would love someone to post some info regarding his injury and the likelihood as to whether he can come back.

Put it this way and think about it. Houston couldn't run the ball in 2006 and they don't want him back.

I just don't see (injuries) how Davis can help our team at that position.

Can he play saftey?

Some of you are so lazy... :)

Player News
The Houston Texans waived running back Domanick Williams on Friday. Williams, formerly Domanick Davis, is Houston's career rushing leader with 3,195 yards. He spent all of last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. Williams sat out most of training camp last season with soreness in his right knee. He showed up in the Texans locker room on Jan. 1, saying he had legally changed his last name from Davis to Williams, his mother's maiden name. He missed five games in 2005 before undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. He returned for training camp and declared himself healthy, but soon stopped practicing because of a bone bruise in the knee.

I would think with your history of insight and informative postings you would have this information all dialed up, and not have to ask others to do your research for you.
