Don’t expect good draft return for Gallup

I see thread after thread about being able to trade Gallup for a top draft pick and can’t for the life of me figure out why.

He’s a very good but not Pro Bowl esque WR and he’s going into the last year of his deal.

You can find guys like him anywhere in the first 3-4 rounds of the draft ESPECIALLY considering the savings to the cap.

I really like Gallup in this offense and with the cap going up maybe they find a way to keep him around, but he’s not a #1 WR like people think. He’s never had more than 6 TDs in a season.

You could probably get a 4th-5th round pick for him. Gallup is the perfect personification of how WRs are like RBs used to be. You can plug any good one in and get close to 1,000 yards.

The reason you want to trade him is the same reason teams won’t give up the farm for him.

Gallup is a top 20 receiver in the league. The Ravens, best secondary in the league, raved about him. I think we overrate our players and underrate others. You seem to be doing the latter.

He's a good young player, but his contract his about to expire which is probably why a team wouldn't give up a top pick for him.

I would guess a 5th rounder?

First....Jerry isn't going to trade him regardless.

He is a keep the band together because this is the year type of guy.....every year.

If Gallup signs a big FA deal elsewhere, they will get a 3rd in return.....probably about his trade value anyway, and you have him an extra year.

If there isn't a big market that would yield a high comp pick....they may be able to retain him.

The problem with the comp pick scenario is its offset by your own activity....and in order to benefit, that means yet again no real FA activity next offseason, and I'm not sure the FO can get away with that unless they reach at least the NFCGC.

I personally think Gallup will be able to be had for something like 4/40, and I would take a strong look at moving on from the 20m per dude with chronic foot problems and finish rebuilding the defense with the savings.

JMO. No need for "Amari hate" accusations.

I'd love to simply chop 21 from our lives but Jerry made that impossible, even a year from now.

Gallup will get us a minimum of a 4th round comp if he walks in free agency so talks of trading him for less are silly in general.
Not if they sign a player to a comparable contract.....

But yep, 4th rounder it is.

With the cap going up substantially next year I can see him resigning and not for Golladay money. But at the same time. Not restructuring amari is revealing a bit.

Maybe you could use him in a trade up for Pitts.
I think someone is going to give Atlanta a HAUL to get up to 4 ahead of Miami and Cincy to get him.

This way those December wins can enrage you a bit more lol.

4th round minimum...I would imagine if the cap is back to a more normal # after this year I think Gallup would get at least a Robby Anderson type deal that was $10M per year. Could also be more depending on the year he has.

And Lol at you thinking the cowboys are going to sign a free agent for that much money. That’s hilarious

Lol those stupid wins.. What a dumb team we have. I don’t even remember who we beat and how that gives any of those players more confidence heading into next year.. So stupid.

No ughhh..

Defenders in this draft are meh..

Pitts could be the next dominant offensive player in football and would make us unguardable against good teams and not just the crap teams that we faced in weeks 2-5.

Beyond anything else, the worst time time to trade a player for picks is before the draft.

If thats your opinion about the defenders then sure. But even then, to trade up for Pitts is laughable.

Why though?

Do you see us competing for a championship next year?
We arent doing it with or without Pitts. What I do know is the only chance we have at being a contender is a better defense though. Getting Pitts wont turn us into some unstoppable offense no matter what you Pitts fans think.

I'm still hoping Mac Jones is on the board at 10 and someone just has to have him.

Gut tells me Surtain is the guy.

If he is there he is a lock.

I think this about right, so you keep Gallup hope he balls out then make a decision after the season.

CIN and MIA need WRs majorly.
CIN: Get Gallup trade back to #10 and draft Slater....Sewell or Slater n Gallup.
MIA: Get Gallup and DeVonta Smith at 10. Pitts/Chase or Smith and Gallup.

Word is Mac Jones is going 3rd. Would be interesting draft if he makes it to 10.
