See this?

Yeah... I saw it, but it just sounds as if the NFL is bound and determined to suspend him. If they can't get him on the stripper incident, they have the personal conduct clause to fall back on... and are letting him know that...

Right. The commish can fine or suspend him for "conduct detrimental to the integrity of, or the public confidence in, the game of professional football." Article XII, Section 1(a) of the CBA.

But I doubt he'd do it for getting in a fight at a strip club. Joey Porter punched another player in the face at a casino (and he's getting charged, I believe), but I doubt he gets suspended for that either.

He's also had a drug suspension

actually he hasnt been suspended for drugs and has never failed a test although its common knowledge that he smokes.

I also dont think that pac man will have a case in a lawsuit. Not reporting the arrests is a direct violation and subject to suspension. What Goodell wants is to increase the amount of games he is allowed to suspend him and also be able to suspend guys who now get arrested. He actually will follow the lead of a David Stern who has the authority to play God with his suspension wand.

What is tricky here is I doubt if pac man will have the support of the players association like say Sprewell had during the choking incident. Remember Sprewell actually got his suspension reduced and went on to make millions more.

I do believe that Goodell is looking to make a statement and example of Pac Man and to all the players who find themselves in handcuff on a continuos basis. Teams will start paying fines (that should go against their cap) and players will start get higher suspensions. The only way to really affect them is to take the game away and I hope he does it.

Pacman Jones is a common criminal and he should be treated like one.

The league shouldn't have to suspend him because he should be in JAIL right now. I guarantee that if any "normal" dude was in trouble with the law 10 times in two years that they would be in some serious trouble. Since this dork has some money he walks every time.

That's what's wrong with this country. This isn't an NFL issue this is a social issue.

I think the players understand the $$$ at risk here and also how unreliable these guys tend to be as teammates costing you a chance to win games.

That is why teams should maybe be fined as well. It was not a secret that Pacman was potential trouble. He had trouble at WVA. The Titans were taking a risk when drafting him. A fine may teach teams to be a little more careful in the chances they take.

I could have sworn he got suspended for 4 games for a drug suspension.

Oh well even I am wrong every once in a while :D

10 times. There is no way that any jury would buy any excuse- so a lawsuit has no chance. Not to mention by the time the trial came along Pacman would either be dead or in jail anyway.

Naw dont sweat that...like he told the officer who arrested him in atlanta, he knows when he is going to get tested so he stops before they catch him. Every player knows that and most simply stop before they get tested. It actually only seems he has been suspended because of all the trouble but actually be has only been in the league two seasons and has only got suspended by the titans one game last season for the spitting incident at the club.

Bottem line is his conduct is the reason for the owners meeting to increase the power of the commissioner. Because all of his arrests and stupidity has been misdemeanors, that has either been dropped or settled, then they cant really do anything. But a new "law" by the league will give them that authority to bring the hammer down. good for the NFL.

If they tried that it would lose on appeal. He was not the shooter and you basically have two very similar circumstances in the Sean Taylor and more recent Joey Porter acts of genius.

If they go way over the top of those suspensions or pending suspensions then it wont hold up.

Oh, really now? You are an Attorney, too! I am impressed!

Uh, why don't you take into consideration the numrous times that PacThug has been busted compared to those other two you mentioned?

How many times would it take you to learn to not touch a hot horse shoe?
