I am a big Dez fan, and think it was a mistake to cut him. I own a Dez Bryant jersey. I think the issues are 1) Dak needs to improve dramatically, and 2) the passing scheme run by the Cowboys is not as creative as it needs to be.

Having said that, it's time to move on. This is my final post concerning Dez on this board, or at least until he returns to be inducted in the Ring of Honor after he retires. I don't see the point in belaboring the issue. Hopefully, after today (Sunday), the Dez threads will dry up on this Board - or at least get moved into the NFL zone instead of the Cowboys zone, or maybe the Drama zone.

He's no longer a Cowboy. Whatever your point of view, I suggest getting it out of your system, and letting the discussions end after today. There are less than two weeks before the draft, and a hundred other things to talk about.

Please. I'm begging you. Let's move on.

This is Dallas

These issues are never dropped

We are still fighting about whether the Packers were offsides in the Ice Bowl

Expect another 10 years of hot and heavy debate......just like Greedo shot first

Who?.......

I like Dez and was disappointed that he was cut. But after stepping back and listening to what he has been saying the last couple of days I am convinced that he needed to go. When he goes on interviews and admits that he thinks he was cut because of Garrett's guys and because of the coaches then it is apparent that he was becoming a headache and disruptive to the coaching staff and other players. You can't have a star player constantly questioning the coaching staff publicly and creating an atmosphere in the locker room where you have his guys and you have Garrett's guys. Sounds like Dez's mouth and insubordination is what ultimately got him fired. I think Garrett should have been fired years ago and I have had many bosses that I have felt were incompetent. However, I was smart enough to know that I just needed to keep my mouth shut and do my job. Dez decided to got outspoken about things he could not control instead of working on things that he could control (like running good routes). It looks like it got to the point where he was creating division in the locker room.

Also, I find it very telling that none of the players on the offensive side of the ball have come out tweeting that they will miss him. Crickets from Zeke, the OLine, Witten, the other WRs, etc. Only Dak has said something and it seemed forced at best. It did not sound as if he were disappointed to see Dez leave.

I liked Dez but I believe it was the best thing to move on from him. It won’t be that difficult to replace his 54 yards a game although it may be more difficult to find a similar red zone talent.

But ultimately releasing Dez is about the future, not the past. It does present a challenge in the present.

Once the draft is over and Dallas signs another free agent or two, it'll pass.

Green Bay cut Jordy Nelson, too. It eventually happens.

I don’t think I would’ve cared as much if Dallas cut Dez when GB cut Nelson or even if we traded him.

The botching of this whole saga ticks me off more than the possible mistake of cutting one arguably one of our best players. This kind of thing makes the entire organization look bad...other marquee players around the league are commenting on how wrong we did Dez.

Dez is gone but this was far from a concise, unanimous decision. If Dak struggles this year, there will be more friction from the people in the organization that wanted to keep Dez. A lot of “I told you so” will surely be heard at The Star. This speaks volumes about how horribly this team is run. At least in the past, Jerry was the sole decision maker...now we have a committee of people running the team.

Agreed.

Go Cowboys!

Everyone else can be blamed, but ultimately Dez is responsible for most of the outcome. Blame Dak and the scheme, but not Dez? I was a fan until he put himself before the team last season. I miss the 2012 -2014 Dez. Not the current. The team will be better for this change.

It took a while to talk Jerry into it. That was the holdup.

After 29 years of rooting for this team I'm having a real hard time with how I feel about the coaches, some of the players and the FO. I feel a bit let down with how this team has jettisoned players like Ware, Murray, Romo and Dez now. I've lost my edge with the team. Even in the darker years I've never felt that way.

For some it's easy to just shut the door and laugh, and call out other posters, or question their fandom. Let some of us feel how we feel. I do not trust this FO,QB,OC and especially the HC. Ridicule me all you want, but it’s how I feel. I’m not even excited for the draft, and a part of me want Karma to slap those certain people in the face. But it is what it is, and players come and go it’s part of the business. But it doesn’t mean I can’t be disappointed in the FO and their handling of some of our beloved players. Don’t think that players around the league don’t see how this FO, HC deals with players.

Dez was always gonna have to take a pay cut this offseason to stay with the team. And he never seemed willing. He’s a declining talent that has zero chemistry with Dak. Good idea to release him.

I don't agree with cutting Dez especially since we have Dak, and really no other WR behind him

That being said let's hope the move was for the best.

I still don't trust this scheme or this pathetic coaching staff, mainly Garrett who always uses a scapegoat to cover his own ***. Most worthless coach I've ever seen.

Just because you move on doesn't mean everyone else has to lol. I'm a big Dez fan. I've moved on. I'll root for him on Sunday's outside of if he plays the Cowboys. But he's been here 8 years. This isn't a release you can expect everyone to get over with in a couple of days.

I don't know if it was a good move or a bad one. I do know that I don't like the way it played out.
