Drafted by Cowboys Donovan Ezeiruaku is a Cowboy

It's weird because normally everyone knows who the Cowboys will take. Maybe Jerry is finally learning?
I think they got that from McCarthy. That man was all about keeping everything secret. Remember the blank jerseys scrimmage game?

PFF named EZ as one of the 5 biggest steals of Day 2

NO. 44 DALLAS COWBOYS: EDGE DONOVAN EZEIRUAKU, BOSTON COLLEGE (BIG BOARD RANK: 17)

Although Ezeiruaku may lack the size and power of some other edge defenders in the class, his length and capability as a quick, smooth-moving pass rusher earned him a top-20 rank on PFF's big board as EDGE3. His 196 snaps versus true pass sets last season are the most in the class, and he earned a 90.7 PFF pass-rush grade with a 25.8% pass-rush win rate on those plays.

The positives continue for Ezeiruaku as a run defender, where he profiles as a savvy addition to boost a struggling Cowboys front. Dallas surrendered the most expected points added per rush in 2024. Ezeiruaku's 83.6 PFF run-defense grade placed him in the 91st percentile at the position this past season.

I know we are all worried about WR and RB. And with good reason.

But man we just got ourselves a legit pass rusher. The defense is going to harass QB’s all game long.
Hard to do when the running back is already 4 yards up the field thru the massive hole in the middle of the line.

This is another example of Schottenheimer setting his plan and then getting picks, coaches and free agents to fit the plan.

Great to see a plan being executed.

I can’t remember the last time that Jerry and Stephen showed any discipline like this.
Last year they drafted Marshawn Kneeland in the second round. Another BPA non flashy pick.

Don't fall for it Hungry!!!! We have this problem in Dallas where we get NEAR the QB, only for the QB to step up, and run away from us!!! Or we'll have a hold on the QB, and somehow he gets away because we can't bring them down

Cowboys ain’t winning a championship this year man.

The draft is about more than one season. Their refusal to bring FA’s best o fix the run defense doesn’t mean this was a bad pick.
Never said it was.

Problem is. They are playing the long game.

By the time this team is ready. Guess what.

CeeDee needs a new deal, also probably looking for a QB.

Not to mention. That’s ignoring that they will now overreact and trade a pick mid season for a RB or WR after their “mingo flournoy” plan fails.

If you’re looking for me to defend the FO as a whole. You won’t find it here. They suck and their unwillingness to sign FA’s and be aggressive will continue to hold the team back.

That said, I still think this was a good pick. The fact that we don’t have enough DT’s and LB’s is a larger macro issue than who we just spent this pick on.

25.8% pass-rush win rate is absurd and getting to Micah territory.

16.5 sacks last year is nuts.

We’ve already seen a lot of critics saying that he’s bad against the run. They just see his height and weight and make an assumption, these numbers obviously dispute that easily.

Would have liked Grant in 1st round to push the pocket, but believe Booker will be a very good starter for many years. Front office should have been serious about 1T in free agency.

Don’t under estimate Fowler. He can do what Dlaw did. And he doesn’t need huge reps to make an impact
Here’s a question: if Ez proves a good pick, and at least one of Kneeland and Williams step up, is DE the most-improved position on the roster? Between this pick and the Fowler re-signing, I think it already is.
