We take a NT with our first pick.

There is alot of talk here about a OT, OLB, or Safety. But in a 3-4 defense, you have got to have a solid, mauler type at the Nose Tackle position. Ferguson didn't have the best season last year and he's getting up there in age. If he gets hurt, this 3-4 defense could be in real trouble. I'd say there is a good chance Bunkley drops to 18 and it wouldn't shock me if we picked him up there. Especially with so much depth in this draft at LB. We could pick one up in the 2nd.

We'd have to move up to do so...

Errrrrr....

No.

I really don't think so. First I think Bunkley goes top 10-12 and secondly he's a better 4-3 DT than 3-4 NT.

aint gonna be no way we get a NT in the 1st round... unless Ngata falls that far... no one else playing NT is a first rounder...

Oh I agree. It would have to be one of those two guys or else no way.

I also don't think it is a huge stretch that one of those guys drop to 18.

Look at Aaron Rodgers last year. Sporting news had him as the #1 qb in the draft and he fell to the packers at 23. Talk about value.

Run-stuffing mounds of flesh can be had on the second day, no thanks with a first rounder.

I read somewhere (Pro Football weekly maybe) that Gabe Watson is up to 366 pounds. If true, especially considering he lacked endurance in the past, it will cool our interest in him as a possible late 1st target. But if he's around at 49, I think we might be interested. We'd love to have Ngata at 18 but it ain't happening.

I would not touch him in the first round. We need an impact player there, not a lazy blob who plays when he wants to and a backup blob at that.

I promise I won't be shocked and I'll remember your warning.

Don't be shocked when it doesn't happen.

We have a lot of flexibility to draft the best player available, and it could be a nose tackle. I see it as a bigger need than some, but I dont see a nose tackle taken in round one starting over Ferguson. I think we will probably draft a nose tackle this year but it might not be in the first round. If memory serves me Parcells was high on "Pepper" Johnson, an udfa from last year.

The areas of biggest need for me are OLB, OL, NT, and FS, though the recent signing mitigates that a bit. I think we take the best player available at each pick this year.

0% of us taking a NT at 18.
We have to trade for the first 2.

The others are not worthy of a first round selection.

I'm with you, I see it as a bigger need than most as well. Bunkely has been compared to Warren Sapp by a couple of "Draft Experts" (whatever thats worth), who wouldn't like a Warren Sapp type talent at thier nose tacke?

Like I said, I'm not saying thats what we're doing, it just wouldn't shock me.

I know what you mean, but I'm not a Ferguson believer..I think he's average or below.

Warren Sapp could not play nose tackle in a 3-4. He is at his best shooting gaps, not occupying them.

If Bunkley is exactly like him, he is better suited to be an end in the 3-4.

Here's something else to chew on.

Last year BP was asked in a PC about moving Johnson to DE after Ratliff went on IR. Bill's answer "If I moved someone, I'd be more inclined to move Ferguson over there".
