Don't be shocked that in the first round...

I know what you mean, but I'm not a Ferguson believer..I think he's average or below.

I'm not either...But after that Big contract to draft a NT in the First round would be crazy.

Ferguson at DE...No way.

oh, I doubt it too -- but if he moves over to take 5-10 snaps a game in running situations then you've got a bit more playing time for a backup

NT and OL are not exciting 1st round picks. If once is picked their will be much moaning and complaining on this board.

Outside of Ngata, I don't think there's a true 3-4 NT worth picking.

Sorry, I meant in the 1st round worth picking.

I really do like Bunkley as a player. I read where a scout for an NFL team said something along the lines of: "That is one mean guy. I watched him play against UNC and it has been years since I've seen a guy beat up the man across from him like that. He's a mauler."

That isn't word for word, but it was along those lines.

He's also at a position that typically goes higher in the draft than their ability dictates. Teams just love to draft DT's.

That all means: 1) He's a very good DT, and 2) He'll be gone long before the 18th pick.

I also read where a scout said he thought Bunkley could play NT in a 3-4. Now, I agree that he seems more of the Warren Sapp, 4-3 DT type... but this guy seemed convinced that he had the base and strength to be very good at NT. He certainly has the mean streak that is needed.

He's one of the better players in this draft, IMO, and I wouldn't be upset if we took him at 18 because I think he'll be that good. However, he won't be there at our pick, so it's a moot point. He'll go before Ngata, you watch.

Just wait and see how high he goes.

You're right there isn't. I have a hunch the Cowboys will either trade down in the first or 2nd to pick up an additional late 3rd. IMO that's where we will snag our future NT- Babitude Oshinowo from Stanford. I got the feeling from listening to BP's press conferences that he's not thrilled with Fergy's performance and without Glover we have a weakness there. There are a few 2nd day guys we could take but NT may well be a 1st day priority in BP's mind.

It's possible - especially if the team moves down some spots.

I think it's more likely though that Dallas targets someone in the 2-4 range. I really think Dusty Dvoracek would be a good fit.

I don't think so. If we got Ngata, that would be worth it, big contract or not. We can trade cut or restructure Ferguson.. But IMO, if you have a chance to get a true 3-4 NT stud, then you pull the trigger.

Yeah, I forgot about him. He might be a good fit, and incredible value at 4

No thank you. I'd prefer to not have any more bi-polar roid rage guys on my team.

Unless Ngata fell to them at #18, I can't see the Cowboys looking at NT that early. By nature, it's not a glamorous position and considering what they have invested in Ferguson, I expect them to look for a rotation guy on Day 2.

Dvoracek isn't bi-polar. I haven't heard about any steroids either. In fact, he's known as a relentless worker and high-character guy who liked to drink too much. Even that's been supposedly fixed.

Dusty got drunk and was "clinically depressed" and proceded to beat his best friend nearly to death.

Sorry, there has been a LOT of talk about it. His symptoms don't match what came out of OU. The reason is that publicly being bi-polar or suffering from roid rage would be a HUGE hit on him and his future.

DD didn't play this last year like he did a couple years prior. He wasn't nearly as good. This could be because he didn't have the talent around him or it could be that he's off the juice or on depression meds that slow him down. Either way....

I think we'd trade down before we'd use our first on a NT. The FSU guy is going top 12 and Ngata will be close behind, and he's had a major knee injury.
Do you really use a first round pick on a player when all you're asking of him is to be fat, occupy space, and don't get pushed back too far?
There are about 20 guys you can find on day 2 that could do that....
Steve Fifita is the name to remember...
