We have an extra 4th so yes I definitely see it happening. I'm more of a Wentz fan and have had long debates with others when Wentz vs Lynch was a thing but if we need a backup with potential and still get to keep our top pick then Yes sign me up.

I hope not

.

I hope so!

Paxton Lynch QB Memphis

STRENGTHS
Paxton is a bigger version of Aaron Rodgers. He has excellent arm talent to make all the throws. He stands in the pocket and throws under duress with accuracy. He can throw with accuracy on touch throws and on the run, making him the type of quarterback for the next level that has the athletic and arm talent to become a franchise quarterback. Paxton has a very strong arm and can throw the ball down the field with velocity and power that will cut through a defense like a lance slicing through the enemy on the field of battle. He has those long strides when he starts to move down the field covering a lot of ground quickly. What makes Paxton remind me so much of Aaron Rodgers is his agility and athletic talent to slide in the pocket, extend plays and throw with accuracy from any release point. Along with this athletic talent and excellent arm talent, Paxton shows in his play on the field to have excellent leadership skills and the ability to deal with pressure on the field, but also stay humble with confidence and deal with the pressure off the field. If you’re a team that needs a potential franchise quarterback, I suggest you don’t pass on selecting Paxton in this draft. He has the potential to re-write some of the passing records in the NFL.

CONCERNS
Although Paxton is ahead of the curve with his athletic talent and arm strength, he will struggle to not turn the ball over at the next level until he gets used to the speed of the defenses he will be up against. Others will suggest that the competition level is also a concern, but really Paxton just has to keep his head on straight and keep improving in reading defenses and getting use to the speed of the defenses at the next level.

TALENT BOARD: ROUND 1
If you need a quarterback, I suggest you trade your mother, wife and your dog to move up in this draft to select Paxton. Remember, your dog will find its way back to you anyway so that’s a no brainer. Like I said, Paxton has Aaron Rodgers-type talent to throw the ball from any release point with accuracy on the run or standing in the pocket. He has the size that makes it very difficult to sack him with just one player and the agility to slide in the pocket or leave the pocket to extend the play. He has those quick feet to go along with long strides to cover a lot of ground quickly if he needs to run for the first down. Yes, he will have some growing pains, but the fans will see the potential the first play he runs after he is selected and they will wait patiently for Paxton to improve. Paxton can play under center or in the shot gun. He is smart and although the defenses he has been up against in college are not as difficult to read as the ones at the NFL level, he will learn quickly. Paxton is a franchise quarterback waiting to happen so don’t be dumb and not select him or that “happening” will be “happening” for some other team. In any draft all you can do is select players with the information you have in front of you at that time. My information says that selecting Paxton Lynch is obvious.

We will pick @4 and take the best defender . But if Paxton Lynch gets past the jets at 20 we will give up a 2nd and 4th to go get him. Reports are the Cowboys really like lynch and have met with him 3 times.

This would be a very solid move. Lynch is really really talented. The only knock on him is that he's going to need a year or two of development.

People get all fussy about giving up later round picks but come on. Look up our forth rounders over the past 10 years. Doug Free is the only real value we got there.

I could see a slight chance of Dallas picking twice in the 1st too.
In your scenario it'd take our 2nd and 3rd (not 4th) to move up the 21st...

Who knows, but I see a great chance of trading down 5-8 slots from the 4th overall (so pick in the 9-12 range and racking up picks.. Then using the ammo to grab another frist slightly later.

Either way...I just hope they please don't take a player at 4 that they can get at 8 or 9....that's wasting a free 2nd or 3rd rounder for no reason.

If they LOVE a player at 4 though, please just take the player and move on.

Sounds like a typical Dallas move of recent memory. They treat 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks like they are disposable when they should make up the core of the team. If they throw away a 3rd rd pick to move up to take a back up QB it is in effect using 2 picks for a player that would have his contract running out before they even know what they have when the 2nd and 3rd round picks should be starters. In effect trading two starters for a guy that will contribute nothing.

Lynch is almost as raw as Dustin Vaughn was.....and comes out of the same system spread offense......both have loads of stats, yards. Maybe the Cowboys see something diff. in Lynch to think he can progress beyond where D.Vaugn couldn't.......

No.More.Giving.Up.Draft.Picks. !!!

If we're going to take a QB, it's imperative that we get him in the 1st rd so we'll have the 5th-year option since he's going to have to sit for a few years behind Romo. We don't want to end up grooming another team's QB ala Denver.

Just curious. At what point do you think we should look for a future qb

I can see this happening. Wouldn't bother me either. Get a first round qb that can learn from Romo and get an impact defensive played

He will not get past #20 IMO. If we want him we must get him at #4 or trade back a few places and get him around 8-12.

The failures in the 4th round shows that the scouts are not doing their jobs. Maybe it is time to clean house. I have said for years that Dallas could do just as well to fire the scouts and use Kiper's board. The results couldn't be much worse . By the way, I am not a Kiper fan at all. Scouts prove their worth by finding good players in the later rounds.

Actually it shows you have a poor understanding of the likelihood of 4th round hits. No team hits consistently late and with UDFA

Wouldn't mind that but they have also met with Dak that amount of time as well. So it's clear we looking at the qb position.

No, I understand that a good dciut can spot talent that others miss. There should be more late round players drafted that develop than what they currently have. From your comments, why bother with those picks? Very few make it anyway ,

Instead of urinating away draft picks. Can the Cowboys FOR ONCE trade down instead and take Lynch (if that is who they like) while picking up a couple of picks so you can build the defense? You can than trade up later so that you can scratch Jerry's itch.

If the Cowboys do really believe Romo has some time left you OWE it to him to build a defense that doesn't force him to be Superman each week.

I'm going another way, if I get a QB at #4 I'm going back into the end of the first round to get Ogbah if he's falling.
