I think I was a little over the top with saying I didn't think I'd see the Cowboys win a Super Bowl again in my lifetime.

I think if the Lord blesses me with at least another 30 years, then I'll get to witness one or two more. I say that because I think Jerry and more importantly Stephen are football saavy enough to at least always keep us competitive.

The aforementioned statement came from frustration more than anything. I'll tell you, I felt as good about this 2009 team and the roll we were on as I have been since 1993. It just felt right. The players were saying the right things. As one said, it felt like the 'stars were aligned'. We were so healthy, and peaking, and ....

Furthermore, there wasn't a team in the playoffs I worried about. Not that I thought the games would be a cakewalk, but I really felt we'd be able to go up to Minnesota and beat them. And we already beat the Saints in their house.

Who ever comes out of the NFC will win the Super Bowl. I'll be rooting for Peyton, but I don't see their defense as being good enough.

What I'm trying to say is, we will be lucky beyond belief if we're able to find ourself in as good a shot to win the Super Bowl in the near future as we were this year.

This was a Super Bowl caliber team. We just didn't win the Super Bowl. I know it's supposedly all about winning. But if that were the case why would people like you and I keep coming back year after year unless we're gluttons for punishment?

It's because the season is enjoyable, especially when you have a good game of the silver and blue to watch.

Newman was playing the flat in Cover 2. Sucks that Rice caught the ball right in the breadbasket but stranger things have happened (interceptions off Witten's ankle).

Good rant.

Great post. Sums up a lot of my thoughts/feelings.

I told my 2-1/2 year old I was sad yesterday.
and she said, "you can not be sad".
I said, "why?".
she said, "because you are with me".

So true.

man that's awesome. my kids are all grown, enjoy yours while they're little.

It dawned on me yesterday that I really may never see the Cowboys win the Super Bowl in Jerry's lifetime again
Fixed it.

Secondly, so much for momentum, right?
The lesson - good>hot

Thirdly, our offensive line needs an overhaul.
It sure handles injuries worse than any line I know of. But to be honest, our playcalling didn't help take the pressure off the OL.

Fourthly... I hate Terrence Newman.
Guy avoids contact like he's at a leper colony.

Fifthly... why didn't we run any of those quick wide receiver screens that have worked so effectively against pressure teams.
See my response to the OL question - we did nothing playcall wise to help. I saw no quick tosses to stacked WR sets, NOTHING to get the ball out quick. We should attack the gaps created when the DE's pressure outside on the speed rush. We did none of that. Because our OC has tunnel vision and our HC has no idea WT Frig is going on on offense.
