Aikman has the money to walk away from broadcasting whenever he wishes. But he’s still making plenty of money at ESPN. He’s entering the second year of a five-year, $90 million contract for Monday Night Football.
Hard to believe some of these announcers are making so much money. Especially ex-players who are making more than when they played. Troy's career earnings in broadcasting have to easily exceed his playing days by now.

I think he still think he has a shot at a GM job but needs to consider one with either an elite QB or top pick of the draft for chance at Mays or Caleb. Just me but I see four teams likely competing for the two picks.......Falcons, Bucs, Vikings and Commanders. At least three of the four may clean house, firing the coach and GM.

Not even concerned, nor do I care.
Until Jerry says he will step down and Stephen says they will hire a GM instead of him becoming the GM.

It is all a moot point.

Troy has no shot at ever being GM of the Cowboys. Stephen has that all sewed up by decree from his father. Power will never be shared outside the Jones family you all should
know by now.

Troy has no experience sufficient to be in a front office in anything other than an "advisory" role, let alone a GM.

That ship sailed the second he went into media and not into a personnel role when he retired.

Anyone but Jerry.. I would definitely take Troy. But if I owned the team and was looking for a GM, I don't think Troy would be on the list. Ex players with no experience at all.. just cause you're in the HOF doesn't mean you can be a successful GM. Lot of moving parts and it's not really a no experience position IMO. That GM/coaching combo should have plenty of it.

Why?

Will McClay and Stephen do a great Job as De Facto GMs.....their job is to bring in talent and theyve done that in spades now we have to get over the hump

and I dont consider Jerry our GM....hes just that in name only

No doubt the front office is doing a much better Job right now, but I don't think it was a great job through the Garrett era. I'd still rather see anyone but Stephen working side by side with McClay.

It is what it is. Just a hypothetical that will never happen anyway.

MM had a different drafting philosophy, as well now with DQ as DC. There was an article about how Will McClay and his scouting staff would look at player and how the draft board was set up.

Before with Garrett and Marinelli. They looked at players then tried to change them to the schemes on defense. So we got the Taco type players.
Offense was offense, you could play or not.
Now they look for the best players and change the scheme as they can to fit to the players. Such as Parson type players.

Of course they still look for the best players, period. But also what they can learn and how quick. I am sure certain players they look at as to fitting the style. But it is much different now, and better.

I believe he's more knowledgeable than Jerald, but that, too, is a moot point.

It's so tiring to see Garrett as a punching bag. Me, I moved on after 2019.
But his time here was too long, yes, but there are many other culprits in our 27 years of running in quicksand.
Too many coaches had a hand in this faulty yorkshire pudding of 27 disultory years. Too many players chocked and we made acquisitions as stop gaps and not the future.
At some point, grown chaps gotta move on. Everyone clap for him and let him go.

The same advertising dollars that pay for players pay for announcers.
And announcers play every play.
The business is sports entertainment, not football.
