No..keep williams, he compliments Austin
They compliment each other, I still don't trust Austin as a star, he had a great game, but he made a couple of mistakes that really could have hurt. Roy is still this team's number one...for now anyways.

So we criticize our "GM" for over trading for Roy but who's to credit for getting Witten in the 3rd round? Ratliff in the 7th round? Romo as a undrafted free agent? Barber in the 4th? Felix Jones in the 1st? Scandrick in the 5th? Choice in the 4th? Who signed Keith Brooking? Who found Mcbriar? Who found Folk? Now i'm sure someone is going to tell me Parcells was behind the majority of these moves but if I remember correctly Parcells wanted Merriman over Ware and didn't want any part of TO. And for whatever reason he felt Vinny T and Drew Bledsoe were better options at quarterback than Romo. He also thought Barbie Carpenter was warranted a 1st rounder.

My point is, we can criticize Jerry for a lot. But I don't think you can as a talent evaluator. He would've never drafted Barbie. Criticize him for his choices of coaches but not for the talent on this team.

The reason someone will tell you Parcells was behind many of those moves was because he was. Of course I'm sure you and others will blame Parcells for the bad decisions those 4 years while crediting Jerry for all the good decisions those years.

Now the 2008 draft was one of the better ones we've had in recent memory, but one year doesn't wipe away over a decade of Jerry miscues.

And really, you want to credit Jerry for an undrafted FA QB signing? Really? You mean the QB that went all draft without getting selected and happens to be from the same school Sean Payton played at? yeah. That was all Jerry and great insight to wait til after the draft to pick him up. :laugh2:

No actually Ogletree would best complient Austin !!! Sorry but he runs better routes, gets separation from his defenders and is better after the catch than Roy Williams. In my view Roy Williams is a #3 on this team.

how many career catches does ogletree have?

Gave up way too much for a #2 possession WR. We could really use a GM

Who's to say that GM you are speaking of, would not have made the same trade?

Whoops I meant to say Non expendable.

We can't afford to lose Barber. He is to good at every area of the game and I dont think either of our backs can develop into the type of blocker he is or the type of short yardage back he is.

I hope he is back to full speed for Atlanta.

I was gonna say....I looked at your sig and you have a Barber pic so when I saw you said he's expendable it threw me off. lol.

The only problem is that he probably has no trade value given his gargantuan contract, lack of production, lack of football toughness and rapidly declining skills.

We should probably just cut him, Hamlin and Flo at the end of the year.

No I don't want to give Jerry sole credit for Romo but he was the one who re-signed him when Romo hadn't even played a down. He was a undrafted rookie and he was here back when Quincy was here. Yet, when it came down to re-sign him Jerry could've passed and sticked with those bums like Henson and Hutchinson but re-signed him. Sean Payton deserves the credit for the Romo find but i'm not giving it to Parcells. Sorry. If he had that much faith in him he should've started him from the get go of that 2006 season instead of Bledsoe and maybe Romo wouldn't have been holding for Gramatica in Seattle that day and the backup would've.

I won't discredit what Jerry did before the Parcells hiring. It was terrible. And we're still paying for it 'till this day. Guys like Antonio Bryant should be in this prime of his career with the Cowboys right now. Roy Williams should be in the prime of his career as well. Too many 1st round picks gone. And the Galloway trade was ridiculous. But if you're going to credit Parcells for this team(I disagree with that notion btw) who's the guy who hired him and who's the one who quit?

I agree. I like what Austin did and its a step into the right direction. But I learned my lesson after the Bucc's game on crowning a receiver PRO BOWL. Let's see what he does when teams have to gameplan around him. Let's see how he does against a contender. I can't take much away from that Chiefs game other than Ratliff is a MONSTER and Choice needs to get carries if Barber is hurt.

Barber is expendable - just need to draft another short-yardage back next year and let Felix and Choice split the other carries.

I honestly think Barber has already worn out his body - better to trade him while we can still get something worthwhile back in exchange.

I agree he is expendable, I dont agree he is worn out. His trade value not that high because RBs have short careers.

you cannot trade players who are injured. We will not get anything close in return.

Williams has no heart (perhaps he lost it in Detroit). With Barber's contract, it will be hard to more. We will be lucky to get a conditional 4th for either of them.

Has no heart? I guess having no heart makes people jump up to get uncatchable passes from an erratic QB in the middle of traffic and damn near get his ribs broken. I guess having no heart means that you block your butt off for your RB's when they are destroying the opposition on the ground. And, only a 4th for Barber? The heart and soul of the offense? One of the most feared runners in the NFL?

Man, there are some really insert unflattering word(s) here fans on this board. Has no heart.............that's one of the funniest things I've heard in ages.

Don't want to trade Barber but would Roy Williams !!! I think Roy Williams is not a #1 Wideout. Hes a vertical runner, not football fast and gets little separation from his defenders. He usually catches pass with someone draped around him or a blown coverage. I really think his lack of Football speed and quickness hurts our Offense.

Romo was an undrafted FA that we signed because of Payton. And there's no real credit for him - it's just he panned out to a certain extent. I don't credit Parcells or Jerry for him.

As to the original point though, we did overpay in the trade for Roy Williams, like Jerry is prone to do.
