NO i don't find it "WEIRD" that a kicker with injured groin is resting his leg and allowing the training staff (not message board experts) do their thing.

Sigh...

Indy made Vinateri an offer he could not refuse before he even got to see us. One of the stipulations of the offer the Colts made was that he had to sign it immediately.

Sounds like Don Corleone is the GM for the Colts. What did they do cut off a horses head and stick in the bed with Vinateri. :lmao2:

Who's to say that Vinateri would even want to come over and play in the NFC when he could go to a dome with the team most likely to stick to the Pats?

If vinateri makes THE difference with Indy, he goes down in history. He's already somwaht credited for being the deciding factor in those NE SB, althoigh most would hate to give that credit to a kicker. If he were to put Indy over the top, there'd be one tough argument against it.

But some assume it was us penny pinching. "IF we'd only......."

please give it a rest.

Thank you.

 The people questioning Vanderjagt have obviously never had a groin injury. This is almost as dumb as people calling TO a cancer because he wants to rest a sore hammy.

I can read it now, Drew Rosenhaus says TO has cancer of the hammy!

we're going to be kicking ourselves for not ponying up the extra half-mill and signing vinatieri.

...of course he's "injured", too :bang2:

once again, us not getting adam had nothing to do with trying to save money. adam had a visit scheduled with us. he signed before he ever got to the visit. had nothing to do with money. they made him an offer and told him sign now or the offer is off the table. he took it
he was our forst choice but sometimes wanting and getting are two different things

This stuff with Vanderjagt and Owens is par for the course.

These two jokers are always in the middle of it.

Don't expect it to change.

so is being injured and being a "joker" a direct correlation?

or are you instead saying that "this stuff" is the media and clueless fan over-reaction to their said injuries?

or do you refute these injuries?

Yeah, it may sound a bit godfather-esque, but it happens all the time.

"here's your deal, but you have to take it now. If you visit other teams, this offer may no longer be on the table"

It's very very common.

I agree it does happen. I also had no problem with Dallas signing Vandy. I do admit I'm concerned about Vandy at this stage

I'm just saying, with some guys "it's always something."

They're at every job or business. No matter where you work, there's always one or two people on the staff that are this way. If there's a problem, or a disruption at work, they're usually in the middle of it. They said something stupid, they slamed someone's hand in a door, they broke the copier, the filed a complaint with the boss, they got caught with porn on the computer, they call in sick all the time ....

These two characters came to Dallas with a reputation.

It's just interesting that they're both nursing muscle strains and have both been disappointments so far because of this.

I thought the DallasCowboys.com story yesterday said that Vandy strained his groin trying kickoffs in practice. He's had groin problems in the past and we knew that before getting him here. His injury is a result of him doing what was asked of him. Bill is not irritated with him because he's hurt, he's irritated because he can't evaluate Vandy's kickoff ability yet(Rosters).

Thing is that history tells me that the "always something" with TO is that he's always making TOUCHDOWNS and BIG PLAYS and making the QB stats go thru the roof. With Vander his "always up to something" is making FGs and not missing 30-yard chippies.

You see the glass half empty and see BIG squabbles with lame coaches and teammates (a bunch of collective overhyped $$$$ chokers if there ever was a crew... peyton, donny, reid, dungy).

We corrected two HUGE deficits without breaking the bank.... but unfortunately people are just set in their hating ways and can't give anyone the benefit of the doubt (nevermind a fair shake).

Hey, I don't hate anyone.

I hope they work out. But I'm not stupid enough to think that everything is going to be rosy in Dallas with Terrell Owens and Mike Vanderjagt.

Go ahead and blame all of Vanderjagt's and Owens' misunderstandings on their former coaches and teammates.

Would you still feel that way if they weren't Dallas Cowboys?

I'll never understand why people are so butthurt over not getting Vinatieri. We signed the better player.

Clutch kicking:

According to his career splits, Vandy is 34-38 all time (89.5%) in Late & Close situations, which is higher than his overall career accuracy of 87.5% and much higher than Adam Vinatieri's accuracy of 78.4% in Late & Close situations. Mike has also made 87.5% of his 72 4th-quarter field goal attempts and 100% of his 3 overtime attempts, while Vinatieri has hit 82.3% of his 4th quarter attempts and 80% of his 10 overtime attempts.

The difference is Vinny did it in the superbowl and his hype exploded from there.

Range:In their careers...

Vandy- 77% from fgs 40+ yds
Viny- 67% from fgs 40+ yds

Kick offs:

Vandy- 60.2 yd avg., 22.2 avg return yards
Viny- 62.4 yd avg, 21.5 avg return yards

Are 2.2 more yds/kick, and less than a yard return average really that big of a difference to say he's much better at kick offs? I think not, especially with what else Vandy brings.

I bet you'll say that Vandy's numbers were a result of playing in a dome...

MYTH: Vanderjagt's stats were inflated by playing in a dome.

FACT:
Mike has made 127 of 145 field goal attempts (87.6%) indoors, and 90 of 103 attempts (87.4%) outdoors, for almost no distinguishable difference. He is 84.4% in windy weather, 100% below 40 degrees fahrenheit, and 100% with precipitation.

So please explain to me how when healthy Vandy is not the best kicker for us?

we have had troublemakers from hayes to henderson to irving to quincy.

i always welcome DIFFERENCE MAKERS on my team as long as they're not felons or addicts.

no blame... it takes two... but i'm not worried about Tuna handling either of these guys without trouble (and probably give ESPN some extra ratings).
