I don't know if this has already been posted but wanted to point out that Dorance Armstrong's performance in the first 2 games has made me very happy that Randy Gregory changed his mind and bolted for Denver.

D. Armstrong stats: 6 total tackles; 3 solo tackles; 2 sacks

R. Gregory stats: 4 total tackles; 2 solo tackles; 1 sack
1 bonehead penalty resulting in a 1st down for the opposing offense

And I certainly don't miss the stupid penalties by Gregory resulting in key 1st downs for the opposing team. I know the above stats are a small sample size but Armstrong already making a strong early impression.

If only the Cowboys would have used the money saved to sign Von Miller!!!
Go Cowboys!!!

So the guy with the weed issues that missed more than half his time in Dallas due to suspension and injury bolts for Colorado(the weed capital)with his first big contract.
QUESTION: How long before his first positive test in Denver?

I thought they didn’t suspend for weed anymore

Gregory has forced two fumbles. That's pretty important.

What was "dumb" about his illegal contact penalty? That's not boneheaded, it was a 5 yard penalty on a 1st and 10. Late hits and hits to the head are dumb. Contact is going to happen occasionally when you have an OLB in pass coverage.

But who is going to lay on the field and talk to the opposing QB when he’s hit?

Perfect post. And to add in his injuries. Von would have been great. It would have been unrelenting pressure. And if not him, I would have loved for Bobby Wagner. Although some have said Dallas was not his first option.

Bitter ex-girlfriend syndrome. They need this to be true. "Armstrong is better than you EVER were, Randy. By the way, check out my revenge bod." Lol.

RG was wildly overrated because the league messed him around but it mostly sentimentalism.
He is a solid bendy edge rusher but offered zero versus the run.
Last year he had 6.5 sacks and 4 penalties and again near zero impact on run plays.
His career high for combined tackles in 25.

He is definitely not missed in Dallas.
Fowler gives you enough pass rush juice and Dorance is a better fit as a guy who can play inside as 4 and 5 technique guy on pass rush downs.

Von is a far better player than RG or any of our De's not named Micah BUT again that is a guy who could fall off the face of the earth at any moment.
Odds aren't great he'll be there at the end of the Bills season.

I’ve never a player universally overrated as much as Randy.

I liked Randy, he was a solid player. But people act like he was a prime Demarcus Ware

Not too worried about Gregory leaving. They covered themselves with Fowler and the Williams pick. Comparing Gregory to Armstrong is a bit of a stretch. When healthy and actually on the field, teams have to game plan for Gregory to limit him. Armstrong is nothing more than an afterthought in their blocking scheme. Hell, the first sack vs the Bengals was against a backup TE with no help!

Tckls-Ast-Sks-FF

Parsons 4-1-4-0, pff 92.2
Fowler 0-1-1-1, pff 91.6
Gregory 3-0-1-2, pff 78.8
Lawrence 7-4-0-0, pff 67.8
Armstrong 4-0-2-0, pff 61.9
This is why people don't trust PFF.
If you are a down lineman with 7 tackles in 2 games you are killing it.
They give Randy a 90 on "coverage", a 74 on pass rush and a 50 on run stop.....

No one is game planning for Randy Gregory.
He is not that dude.
He has 17.5 sacks in 52 games or essentially 1 every 3 games he plays.
He is a superb Nickel pass rusher that falls a bit as a straight up starting edge.
He gets up field too far and fails to hold the edge.
He is easily baited on hard counts.
Watch him this week versus the 49ers
Not every team is starting Geno Smith or whoever Houston starts on their tankathon.

But the biggest issue is he 30 years old and makes 12-14M a year.
I would prefer ALL of the current DAL DE and the deals they are on to Randy. Dorance, DLaw, Micah, Sam, Fowler

Dorance is a solid all-around player who has over 30 tackles each of the last two years.
He can slide inside and play 3T on pass rush downs.
But mostly he is 25 and half thew cost of Randy.
