I still don’t think Armstrong is that good. He may be better than I originally thought, but he’s still not great. I think he is benefiting from the Parsons effect. There is so much attention on Micah now that the other DE will reap the benefits. Has Lawrence ever been a +10 sacks a year guy? Now he gets 3 in one game. Has Lawrence improved his pass rushing skills or is he now seeing less double teams and chips from TEs and RBs.

And that in a nutshell is why having the Parsons effect is so great. Agree with your points, but his play is what it is so far and he can thank Parsons for that. ( Great for us!)

He had an excellent game last night and really great start to the season.

Blocked field goal and 1 sack (should've been 2 if not for Joseph's stupid face mask penalty).

Armstrong is definitely proving me wrong.

Proving me wrong too.
He is certainly looking like a steal on that contract.

Best game of his career last night.

Anyone have extra mustard? I’m gonna need it to get this much crow down.

Love being wrong when it goes like this. Dude was all over the field last night making plays.
Yep this is good crow.
Pass the platter, I need my share.

I do appreciate when people admit when they were wrong. Too many times posters squawk about something all off-season and are proven wrong and don't say a word.
Hey you gotta man up!
It's hard to be right 100% of the time.
Just glad this is a good time to be wrong.

not sure why its shock, he had about the same stats as Gregory last year with similar snaps. the FO and coaches knew they saw it,.
he will get 6 sacks this year and we won't miss Randy, we havent..
They weren’t even making an attempt to resign him until the Gregory contract fell through. Up till then he’d received zero interest in the 1st wave and not much of any in the 2nd. And boy howdy did they get criticized here when he resigned!

Could Buck have sounded any more annoyed that the FG got blocked. Its a rare (for cowboys) play that's usually exciting, he called it with the excitement of an extra point going in.

Blocked a FG last year too IIRC

Lawrence has gotten 10 sacks before. The problem was Lawrence didn’t have anyone around him to rush the passer.
I think the bigger problem was they stopped using him in wide gaps. In 8 and 9 gaps, most NFL RT's struggled with his athleticism. We moved away from that. He can rush well from a 7 and 6 gap on the right side, but he doesnt finish as well as he does wide. Funny thing is, I think if they played in the left side he would have a couple more double digit sack years playing in the blind side. You really have to smoke your man on the right side to put the QB down

He already has 3. I'd be shocked if he ended with 6. Dorance has looked great out there, along with the rest of that pass rush.
sacks are streaky so you never know especially with our DL rotations. Basham comes back in the mix soon.. DQ has a huge rotation for our players, keeps them fresh and the quality of OL we may face going forward also is a factor. Just like last years TOs this year not there yet but soon they could come in bunches,,

did NOT fall through,

you do realize that clause was in there very purposefully, they also could have removed it once they saw it was going to ruin the negotiations, they did not.

It shows me they were fine moving on from RG...those are facts. The FO had a choice they made it easy for RG to walk and they didn't chase him or cave for good Reason. RG is A player you want that clause in there for.

sorry but DA has been on this team and the coaches have always had faith in him, you so not know he wouldn't have resigned maybe Basham doesn't get resigned, maybe fowlers not picked up etc etc those decisions were not hinging on RG but if RG did stay, DA might still have got his deal going off last year's stats, i say he was in their plans.. Heck Tank nearly got cut if he doesn't agree to the restructure he was gone..so im betting DA was always in the plans.

please don't respond saying im wrong

You have zero idea whose opinion is correct. that one thing i do know the FO is more loyal to home grown talent, so odds are Basham or fowlers do not get on this final roster if RG stays and DA does.

or does we like our guys not fit when you are trying to win a debate LOL:rolleyes:o_O;)

Good solid and versatile player. I believe he had a block or 2 on STs last season(or year before) as well. 5 sacks in limited snaps last season, and probably will finish with 8+ sacks this season. Guy takes a lot of heat on this board for whatever reason, but he's a valuable player.

Lol, ok! And yet they didn’t make any overtures toward Armstrong until “the Gregory contract fell through”! It was also only a 2 year contract, so it’s obvious they didn’t look at it as anything more than a stop gap. Oh and Basham was on a 2 year contract. This is the 2nd year of that contract!

and why would they have??
Basham was close to being cut his little deal meant nothing. He was a bubble guy..lots of players under contract were traded or let go...

did the FO promise you a red phone private call or FaceTime?? lmao

LET ME BE CLEAR,

THEY DO NOT KEEP FANS IN THE LOOP OR TOP OF MIND WHEN MAKING DECSIONS OR MOVES.. you have a list one of those fake draft boards people show LMAO. give the poor theory's to yourself,. im not buying what you are SELLING.....

I'm so glad to have Armstrong back and see him making an impact. However, it's clear the front office prioritized the Gregory contract and Armstrong was part of the fall back plan. Sometimes the fall back plan works better than the original plan ;).

Not obvious you do one at a time..no bone saw the FO list of priorities. You are guessing. The offseason is all the way up to the trade deadline. There was no rush to make DA first or last. every move the FO made the last 2 offseason has worked out.
