Getting rid of La'el Collins was another completely idiotic decision by this front office. You went from pro bowl caliber to career backup at starting RT.

Just dumb and they'll be desperate for a real RT next offseason.

I think more than anything it hurts our depth. When Tyron goes down we have nothing.

Which Collins? The one from 3 years ago or the one that returned after a year and a half off?

I would say at this point in their careers they are a wash with more upside to Steele. Steele has less chance of injury and less chance to get suspended. Collins missed the last year and a half from both prior to his return. After which, the Oline went into the toilet.

Then we take salary into account. Steele is getting less than 1 million and Collins was getting 15 million I believe from the Cowboys.

It was a wise move and at least we give Steele a legitimate chance to win the job. IF Steele cant handle it, we replace him. Simple as that.

Great move by the FO to continue the youth movement and get rid of over priced veterans with bad contracts.

Agreed, in that now LC is gone, so our fanbase needs to over rate him. He was more hype than substance. Dude was obviously a moron as well. It's no wonder we got him as a rookie FA.

If a team had spent a first round pick on Collins they would have labelled him a bust

I can't say I loved the contract and can't argue the missed season with injury, but when healthy and happy..L Collins can be a top 5 right tackle in the league, he's a young guy, not an old vet.
Steele is a swing tackle who's getting a chance, he put it in the work, he's stronger yes but he's not special., he can't move like Collins.

The truth is we didn't want to pay Collins and part of the reason is he had an attitude problem with the front office and the o-line coach. We don't know the whole story.

He'll be great in Cincy, and we'll most likely be looking for Steeles replacement in the 2023 draft.

So lets just look at some funny things you said and some other interesting facts.

LAel Collins has NEVER made the pro bowl. So he has NEVER been a pro bowl talent. That was your first laugher.

Collins was hurt for all of 2020 and suspended the first 5 games of 2021. So is this author talking about the Collins prior to 2 years ago?

The author give an example of Collins blocking against the bucs in a video. Well Collins was still suspended when we played the bucs last year first game of the year. So what game is he talking about? Again, several years back?

And lets address what happened to the Cowboys Oline in the 2nd half of the year after Collins returned. It basically went in the toilet. So Collins returns and the run game goes missing and the pass blocking becomes suspect.

Then the desperate Bengals sign Collins to a what is essentially a 2 years 20 million dollar contract. Heck even the Bengals didnt think much of Collins. Doesnt sound like they thought he was top 12 either.

So your comments and this article are a complete laugher. And thats not even taking into account Collins bloated contract with the Cowboys.

I wonder if he thinks I read it.

Um, not to interrupt your delusion but you got him as an UDFA because of a murder investigation he was completely innocent of but the timing didn't allow him to be cleared for the draft.

He will be an infinitely better player in Cincinnati than what career backup JAG Steele will be here.

He's also ranking Parsons top 5 at two positions.......LBer and Edge.

Farrar didn't learn much from last season apparently.
Putting Tyron, Lane Johnson and Trent Williams all in the top 4 is a great way to see your top choices underperform and miss tons of games.
All 3 players are very, very good but also VERY much on the downside of their careers.
Tyron and Lane have combined to miss 49 games in the last 3 seasons.
I respect both but this is just dumb.

Yeah and you become the subject of a murder investigation typically by making good choices. Fair or not, the same guy who attempted to bribe a drug testing official isn't getting the benefit of the doubt. Dude was an over hyped bone head.

Steele will be fine. It's depth we need to be concerned about. The drop off will be negligible, just like it has been the past couple seasons.

Collins was never a top 5 RT and certainly not last year.

Cincy paid him like a low end starter.

He wasn’t over the last 2 years. And at 15 million no thanks.

Speaking of Philly since its an Eagles poster asking the question, when people wonder why the Eagles are getting some hype this year, note these rankings. When you have an elite OL, you can cover up a lot of issues. According to Farrar, they have the #2 and #5 OTs, the #2 OC and the #10 OG.

They are loaded along the OL. Hence why they will likely be in a lot of games this year, even with Hurts, and a chance to win 9-10 games again against a weak as hell schedule.

Also, as I have said in the past, Jerry's biggest issue the last 25 years hasn't necessarily been his roster choices (granted, he's put out some doozy rosters). His biggest flaw as a GM is that he just flat out sucks at hiring coaches. We all have our reasons why that's the case but at the end of the day, when you look at his coaching choices, they have been abysmal after Jimmy. The best was likely Parcells but they pulled him off a TV desk when they hired him as he had been out of football.
5 is pretty high for Mailata, unless they are projecting further development. To me he is fringe top 10, which is still pretty good

A "Career backup" that has 27 starts in his two year career. This is also two more starts than the great La'el Collins over the same span.

You are clueless.

I am a little surprised Tyron is listed so high. I am not surprised Collins made the list. I am more surprised two Eagles are in the top 5. Shocked actually. They have a strong OL but Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata are not top 5 OTs.

Lane Johnson was second team all-pro:
https://www.nfl.com/_amp/2021-all-pro-team-jonathan-taylor-t-j-watt-cooper-kupp-highlight-roster

And was previously first team all pro:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_All-Pro_Team

PFF had him as their fifth tackle in the NFL:
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2022-offensive-tackle-rankings-tiers

Pro Football Network had him as their third best:
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/top-32-nfl-offensive-tackles/

CBS has him 4th:
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...lliams-zack-martin-headline-stacked-list/amp/

Is everybody wrong?

Well, they are opinions, so I am comfortable with mine. And my point was both Johnson and Mialata were listed in the top 5. I just do not see that.

I said he has a "chance" to be which means "future"...open up your eyes.
Steele is a 1-2 year serviceable RT, a stop gap player for cheap with a good attitude but nothing great.

You better hope he doesn't get Prescott Killed

We're all going to get to see it at least twice this year and if they run through the center of our defensive line which I predict is very possible.
We will know they are as advertised. Eagles are strong in the trenches on both sides of the ball. It's going to be tough sledding because we have not kept up
