Not really. Doug Free played pretty well except for the deep sack on Romo. Even there, he can't block two guys. He broke down the one guy inside and even blocked him out to the point that Romo would have been able to step up and slide to the right for a big opening to throw down field.

Problem is, as usual, our offensive coordinator had us going with 5 offensive linemen and no RB help in the backfield against a blitzing team. I place about 50% of this loss on Garrett, and the other 50% squarely on Nick Folk.

I think Free was one of the least of our worries, Casmith was correct, the only sack wasn't really his fault....and I didn't really see him get beat much outside of that.

SD didn't put much pressure on Romo. Most of the time, they chose to drop back in coverage.

On the other hand, we put almost no pressure on Rivers at all, not even when be brought a heavy blitz...he wasn't even rushed much.

I thought Free played pretty well also. We haven't been getting pressure on anyone lately.

Garbage game and often abused... That is all.

Free is the least of our worries. He is really good in pass protection. Says something when a 3-4 game starter outplays veterans - some of which have been to pro bowls.

Doug Free needs to get stronger, too week at the point of attack.

He does need to get stronger to that he can really anchor his position.

It'll come. I have a feeling he'll have a very increased role next season.

Good point. I think Free does well w/ pass protecting but does need more strength for run blocking.

But we all know Marc will be back at full strength next year. I would like to see Free go to the left side. ;)

Columbo is clearly missed. Free has done a solid job, but I wouldnt replace Columbo for him.

I thought he did well. I think he'll make a good starting LT one day.

Free has been pretty good and probably better than Columbo. The sack was not his fault but just a good blitz package by SD that fooled Romo - the LB that sacked him was unaccounted for in the protection schemes.

Free is a natural LT and should replace Flo next year. Flo and his penalties need to hit the highway. I wouldn't mind trading him to a team needing an LT if he still wanted to play as he is not bad. I just want an OL that is more mobile and makes less mistakes.

Bigg should be moved to RT.

We then need to find ourselves a new RG in draft/FA.

I think Bigg is just too big and tall to play guard. He is a perfect RT, though. If we find ourselves a power RG with some decent speed, we've got a power side of the line to run on.

With Free and Kosier on the left, we've got two guys who can get out and make blocks in space (Gurode can do this, too. Hopefully the new RG can do this, too).

Columbo may be slightly better run blocker but not nearly as good in pass protection. Besides, Columbo takes a ton of false start penalties - maybe more than Flo. I would like to trade him or just release him. He is a JAG.

Not sure what some fans watch, but Free played pretty good, other than couple of plays. Its like the Scandrick is great and Jenkins sucks folks. Don't know what they watch, but they sure think they know what they are watching ( and think they are proffessional scouts to the boot).

Free is not very strong at the point of attack and I don't no if he ever will be.

How long has he been here? You would think that he would be a little stronger than he is right now.Maybe some more work on technique will help.

Considering his lack of strength,he is playing better than I expected.

Lol at anyone saying Free didn't play well. You just don't know football.

And Spencer put pressure or hit Rivers at least 4 times as he was throwing. The 38 yarder to Jackson on Newman came with Spencer grabbing Rivers as he threw. Great game by their QB.

Rivers and his Recievers made great plays when it counted. Romo and his recievers didn't. On top of it, Cowboys D gave up at crucial time. Heck even on Gates TD, Spencer hit Rivers just before he released the ball, but even then Rivers got off the ball perfectly.

This was Free's worst game. And that sack was totally on him. Had he got his man, Romo would never have rolled into the sack. But he's been a bright spot this season. Calling him garbage and often abused is hysterical overreaction.
