Doug Free

Part of the OL struggle is because our inept coaches, started Chaz Green over Cooper at Lg, despite the fact that Cooper outperformed Green during training camp.

Just one more example of how stout the cowboys coaches are.

Free let ole boy from Seattle run right by him which was why he was able to get to Romo from behind on the play that he broke his back.

They all mostly stunk and things need to change next season.

La'el still had his problems in pass protection.

And Free didn't?

Collins simply has more athleticism and power to handle pass rushers that Free never had. It takes about a full year to get comfortable with the transition to RT and I would expect Collins to be markedly better in pass pro next season.

Free was under rated by most fans.
He was a great run blocker. Pass protection he had his idssues, but wasn't as horrible as most believed.

Collins will be fine, he moved from OG to OT. And Leary played more OG that Collins did.
So could this have been considered a rookie year at OT for Collins. I think we will see a big improvement on a good year he already had.
He was one fans underrated for sure
Collins may be even better

Doug Free proved to be flawed long ago in terms of his faulty pass protection.

Let's admit that the time was ripe for him to retire and just leave it at that.

Lots of people hated him... I think not having him around could have been one of biggest reasons with some of the struggles on the oline. Thoughts?
It has nothing to do with Free- Collins play the same or better. The problem with the online was losing Leary. Leary was a big loss and to me cause the run game to suffer. Think back to Zeke’s rookie season, first two games. Leary was hurt and the run game suffered. Look it up.
