Don't care about contract talk right now, but I keep reading how Murray, Randle, McFadden and Morris were just as good as Zeke with our line.
First off, Murray played with Romo and Dez and a prime Witten where Romo was the player teams game planned for.
The other backs mentioned were never the focus of the offense and never commanded an extra man on the box they got the yards against 7 or 8 in the box.
Zeke goes against 8 or 9, allowing receivers to play man to man. Our receivers this year and Dak should flourish with Zeke and when they pull that extra man Zeke will tear them a new one.
No doubt our other backs will play well with our stud line, but will defenses respect our play action against them like they do against Zeke?

Yeah, this needed a new thread...

Yeah, Murray and his 1845 yards just "snuck up" on the entire league!

If they're actually good running backs? Sure they will. As you conceded yourself, they will "play well with our stud line", just like Murray did, just like McFadden did, and just like Elliott himself did. It's a pattern you can't ignore.

McFadden was most certainly the focus of defenses when we were trotting out Matt Cassel and Brandon Weeden as our starting QBs in 2015. He produced because the OLine was great. Obviously we did not win many games but those QBs were horrible.

If you think the OLine is primed for a great year, which I do, an Ajayi, Pollard, Weber backfield is enough. Play hard ball with Zeke, pay the guys that are here with the team.

No doubt this team needs POC RB in question. I don't think anyone is debating that. Or course, who knows. But, that doesn't mean the Cowboys FO caves and pays him. They shouldn't. I think it's time for them to focus on who's in camp and hope for the best. I'm just glad nobody can use the "O-line" excuse any longer as folk always did when Emmitt played. Whew!! Yay!!

I believe rookies Pollard and Weber are going to answer a lot of questions this preseason and early part of the season concerning Zeke. If they shine, Zeke becomes expendable. If they struggle, Zeke becomes a necessity.

I'm not sure that many are downplaying his importance short term. But it's pretty clear that with overall good players and the right scheme, a top RB isn't necessary to have success. With more and more teams going with RBBC, this won't be changing anytime soon. Problem is that the Cowboys don't have that scheme in place. And Garrett is probably not competent to devise one.

Zeke is hands down the best back we’ve had since Emmitt

Man has led the league in rushing 2 out of 3 years and it woulda been a third

But let’s look at his second season in 10 games he got 983 yards rushing and one of those games he was held to 9 yards rushing so in 9 games he dang on near broke 1000 yards

This past season man had 1400 yards and 77 catches for 500+ yards

Zeke is the second best player on our offense (Zack Martin is the best player on O)

Believe me, I would love for him to honor his contact. My point is that he's good and many here seem to think he can be easily replaced. Either they dont understand or just talking outta their crack. Lol

No, by all means, go on thinking every little thought that enters your head deserves its own thread.

You're that important.

I "understand the point" just fine. You couldn't refute the points in the thread where they took place the first time, so you thought you'd start another thread.

That's my point, this offense needs a stud back. Maybe Moore will change that.

Well he should be the best back since Emmitt. He was taken with the 4th pick. Which plenty of people called a mistake. And in hindsight, it probably was.

He can be. It won't be this season obviously. He's not honoring. Cowboys shouldn't reward him with all the other players that are looking for deals. Key players there too, that can't be easily replaced. Sure, Dak is probably the easiest to replace in most folks eyes. But, they aren't going to throw away the last 3 years, develop another QB and think they will actually get anywhere? It's just a whole fustercluck any way it is sliced.
