Down playing Zekes importance

Don't care about contract talk right now, but I keep reading how Murray, Randle, McFadden and Morris were just as good as Zeke with our line.
First off, Murray played with Romo and Dez and a prime Witten where Romo was the player teams game planned for.
The other backs mentioned were never the focus of the offense and never commanded an extra man on the box they got the yards against 7 or 8 in the box.
Zeke goes against 8 or 9, allowing receivers to play man to man. Our receivers this year and Dak should flourish with Zeke and when they pull that extra man Zeke will tear them a new one.
No doubt our other backs will play well with our stud line, but will defenses respect our play action against them like they do against Zeke?

I'm not sure that many are downplaying his importance short term. But it's pretty clear that with overall good players and the right scheme, a top RB isn't necessary to have success. With more and more teams going with RBBC, this won't be changing anytime soon. Problem is that the Cowboys don't have that scheme in place. And Garrett is probably not competent to devise one.
Agree! Brady-Belichick dynasty actually lacked something in their last 2 SB's. A 100 yard rusher.

Perhaps that's the best way to explain why it's been a decade since a title game winner reached a mark often reserved for SB MVPs. It also illustrates how the game has changed since HOFers Emmitt and Terrell Davis were carrying the Boys and Broncos to championships.
If memory serves me correct, it's been 21 years since a RB has won the MVP in the Super Bowl. I think TD was the last RB who received that honor.

Zekes play is not the issue. You "sign Zeke for anything" fans dont seem to get it the issue the rest of us have is his off field stupidity and the fact that he is a complete moron. Dont want to give that kind of guy crazy money.
I agree, but my point was all about his play.
Mike Weber running hard in training camp.

Stop Hijacking my thread! I'm gonna report you! Lol

People have been doing this for the longest time. They get mad when the player goes out and tries to take care of their own well being. Elliott has given everything in the field and has propelled us to 3 straight winning seasons, two divisional championships. I like Dak, but none of this would be possible without Elliott. Elliott is smart because he saw what the cowboys did to DeMarco Murray. I know it's the market but it's almost ludricrous that Cooper will make more money than Elliott for the Cowboys, considering he is to quote Jones "the straw that stirs the drink". He should get paid well for it, and I believe he's special enough to play well through that contract.

It's great that some of these RBs look great in training camp but gameday is totally different. Are they going to be able to take over the game if the offense needs it?

He is the best player on the team. No doubt in my mind. It is a shame. He is getting bad advice and would be much better off in the long run taking the deal the Cowboys offered him. If he plays this all the way out his career will be wasted and he will be labeled a malcontent and will never get the deal Dallas is offering him now. He will never be motivated to just play football, it will just be a mess of playing on the last year of a contract, not signing a Franchise tag, bad mouthing trade procedings and so forth.

There is no doubt that Zeke is the cog that makes this engine run. On the other hand there is s point where his cap hit would be too much. I WANT Zeke starting game 1. What I’m not sure I want is a broken down Zeke and a bad cap hit three years from now.

I want Zeke to stay a Cowboy, but would I rather have a first round and a third round pick for him? Maybe, but it depends on Pollard and Weber.

I know I don’t want to see Morris lined up in the backfield.
so if they gave him a 4yr deal right now thats a 2 yr extension and 3yrs guaranteed, so if he does start breaking down both sides got what they paid for, let him go have new guy in place.. whats the issue its What Zeke knows could happened dnt he entire reason he wants to get paid now VS being used up this year and next plus maybe a FT then cut.. Im typically not behind holdouts and other threats of wanting to be traded, but in the case of Zeke and other Elite Rbs, they deserve a bigger 1st contract or at least after yr 3 it torn up should they pout perform it because lets get real Amari wants over 17 Dak over 30 and Zeke 15..HMM who actually has earned being paid top 5? top 3? let me give you a hint, its not top 10-15 Dak or 10-15 Amari.. Church , word, Fact//why shouldnt he demand new deal knowing what he knows and we know about NFL RBs..? Im with him as I was Emmitt and Emmitt technically held out for larger rookie deal and held out again after year 3 , they both were correct..Im standing tall with Zeke and hope he at least finds some middle ground wit he FO and comes back before game1..

I bet Zeke didn't like seeing the Cowboys draft not 1 but 2 talented RBs in Pollard and Weber this past draft.

Not sure if it's been said but the only thing I would change is that in 2015 the running game was the focus. They still produced admirably considering the crap we put out at QB.

Weber was a workhorse at the same college Zeke went to... Ohio State in a big school conference that's known for very good defenses. He can carry a load if need be just like Zeke proved since his rookie year with the Cowboys. Pollard was a part-timer at Memphis who showed the ability to take it to the house on any given play, even when Memphis played against big school college teams. Just because they are rookies and don't have any NFL skins on the wall yet doesn't mean they can't be productive right out of the gate. Zeke did it in 2016. Why can't Pollard and Weber, especially behind this healthy/stacked Oline and surrounded by better receivers and a well polished and proven 3 year QB?

No one ever always gets a hole in one. You are comparing a proven #4 pick barring suspension his 2nd year could have the league rusher since he’s been here. Sure he needs to stay on the field but when he has, he’s played and got it done. Sure players picked later can be something but Are you not tired of waiting for potential? That #1 rb we have already gets it done

True, but the fact that we were losing most of those games and the opponents playing prevent defense may have made McFadden and Randle look a bit better. No doubt our line played great, not taking anything away from them.

I haven't watched any of those games recently so not sure what d they were up against. Playing prevent against ****** QBs and a solid run game seems to go against the grain.

They also never take into account that Zeke is an exceptional pass blocker, he can literally do anything you ask him to do and if they had a legit QB they would've beaten the Rams.
