Downs and his draft reaction

You really don’t understand? Our whole society has way too many fatherless homes. You don’t think having his father around his whole life didn’t help his upbringing? Not that it always helps unfortunately.
I don't need you to tell me what I dont understand.
My response was directed at the OP not you, so move on.

Did you not see him stand facing the star for about 20 seconds?

He knows.
Damage control. He knows. Lol.

Also, I don’t think whether he was hoping to be drafted earlier or by another team initially will have any impact on his playing career whatsoever.

He seems less the emotional type player and more of the cerebral, strictly business type.
I agree with this. He hoped to go earlier, his brother had been talking about the Giants in that background video, and I think it was relief that he wasn't "that guy" that slid and everyone would talk about. I think he got over it fast though.

Downs has been nothing but completely professional throughout, but I don't get the sense that he really wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy.

His facial expressions and body language suggest that he probably thought he was going to the Giants or maybe thought he was going higher. And I have no doubt he will reach his potential as a Dallas Cowboy. But I don't see the passion for The Star. Whereas Lawrence is falling all over himself just to be here.

Did anybody else sense this or is it just me?
By the way, Rockport says Downs should find a new team.

Its a disadvantage.....just like a girl without a mother in her life.

I couldn't imagine the challenges a single father would have trying to raise daughter's through puberty, lol.

No judging......no hate.....just common sense

He didn't look super excited to me but that doesn't mean that he wasn't happy to be drafted by Dallas. I honestly think it's worse when you see a player and his family going crazy when they get drafted by a team like the Jets or Browns and you gotta believe that they would rather play somewhere else. Then again it's probably excitement that they were taken so high and get a bigger rookie deal, Downs could have been disappointed that he was taken higher than he was.

Sorry brother. I perhaps naively misunderstood your questioning emoji. Maybe you had some other motive. I truly apologize if I offended you.
Yeah it was more of a personal issue with me.
The OP made a comment that could be interpreted in a number of ways, depending on how the reader relates to the issue.
I wasn't trying to accuse the OP of any bias. I was just seeking more context.
We're good DV...I appreciate you.

I agree…he seems to be an even-keeled kid.

In the interviews I have seen, he doesn’t show much emotion. Even when Nabers and Parsons were cutting up in his interview post draft, he stayed pretty stoic and professional.

You can tell he is cut a little differently than most. He is really impressive for a 21 year old kid.
This is how I read the situation

Nicely done.

Miscommunication is a real mutha.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not worried about it. Just watched his draft reaction on a YouTube video. I’m sure if there was any disappointment on his part, he’ll get over it pretty quick and I’m sure he knows what an incredible opportunity he has in Dallas.
Maybe he would have liked to be drafted by the Giants in the top 5. But who else? Jets, Cards, Titans? Anyone running around in their backyard as a kid catching passes from Neil Lomax?

I think he may have thought he was headed to Cleveland that might be the disappointment you’re sensing . Missing out on the Dawg pound and such …..

He said in his draft blog that he was guessing giants.

Likely because they needed defense and had two top ten picks

I suspect most everyone thought he’d go higher including him. Don’t think it was about wanting to go to the giants so much as felt he deserved to go higher. Hopefully that puts a chip on his shoulders for next decade
