Downs will command a major trade up

You trade up for a safety and lose a ton of capital

OR stay put, and probably worst case scenario get one of the top 2 cbs in the draft, who are interchangeable depending on who you ask.

Love Downs, but its better to stay put. Styles is the back up plan then CB. Then with 20 we probably get an edge.

Im more and more impressed with Dillon Theineman (sp) not that he's as good as Downs but taking Theineman @ 20 allows a blue chipper like Styles to be taken at 12. Dillon isn't that far off Downs.
The team would be better built taking Styles with Theineman. JMO
If Downs is there at 12, then obviously you have to take him. However, going LB/Edge/CB at 12 and Thieneman at 20 would be a really good option.

I do like Theineman a lot. He’s got great football IQ and makes a ton of plays and a ton of plays on the ball. He’d be a nice consolation prize at S/big nickel.

Well if Downs falls to 12 (eureka). There's a slight possibility but I don't think so.

I’m not sure Downs is coming in rated like Sean Taylor or Eric Berry. Top five pick safeties are super rare.

Those were arguably generational talents in college so no Downs is not there. But he is still significantly the best S in this draft

If the Giants want to take him #5, they can have him.

Eyeballing the Johnson trade value chart, trading up to #5 would take #12 and #20, and the Giants would give us their 3rd. I am just not giving two firsts for Downs. He'd have to be Kyle Hamilton for that deal to even be remotely worthwhile.

He is so good and I think he is being underrated. Usually FSs with plus range on the backend aren't very good playing downhill he is a stud against the run.

I know tackles aren't a great stat for eval but a S racking up a ton in his career is a plus.

Harrison Smith 2.0 IMO.

I wonder about trading down from 20 and still get a safety, cb, edge, or lb. They have no 2nd or 3rd round picks.

It sounds good to me the safety class is deep. I'm pretty zeroed in on
Dillon but what ever builds the team the right way

I love Downs more than any player in this draft but he is just a safety. If the Giants or Washington gets him, it will be ok.
