Yet, you're going to waste your brain cells and precious time on earth commenting in said forum about a situation that hasn't changed after all these years, and will still root for a team owned by someone you don't respect, a team that you believe will never have that level of success again????

Love Jimmy. He's the crown jewel of the 90s team. But I'm not a fan of revisionist history. I'm about moving onward, looking to the present. Yes it's good to understand how we got here, where we came from, but it gets to a point where it feels lazy, like we don't need to do anything more. Know what I mean? The last thing I just said is holding Jerry back. He can't get out of his own way, thus, why this franchise is in limbo for 30 years. Part of him must let go of the past in order to get on with the future...evolve with today's team.

Watched a few episodes. Just completed the SB episode that recapped the SB win vs. the Steelers. Few thoughts.

• The fist few shows where Jerry provides some insight as to how he earned his money to buy the team, where his lack of awareness of what he was getting himself into was on full display, and the steps taken to remove Tom and hire Jimmy were much more interesting than the episodes that just high-lighted on the field performance in the glory years.
• Clearly both JJ's were very hard-headed, but I felt there was a slight lean to give Jerry the benefit of the doubt over Jimmy in the battle of, "You ruined this partnership". Not enough to say Jimmy was portrayed as the villain, but more so perhaps to make you feel things from Jones' perspective. However, some of the "pity" gets cast aside when he refers to Jimmy as M-f'er.
• I always thought Barry Switzer was an idiot and this was primarily based on listening to him speak. But the brilliance of Switzer (that hurt) was the manner in which he formed relationships with players and gained their trust. The show makes me believe it took a little while for this to happen which kicked in to full gear in his second season. Still not a fan of his coaching chops (his accomplishments sure say otherwise), but that team was capable of running on autopilot.
• Some players were cast in a particular light at the direction of who? Aikman was painted as a little bit of a brooding whiner who wanted his way, and who was most definitively at odds with Barry Switzer - almost to the point of playing the role of saboteur. On the other hand, whip out your willy Charles Haley, was one of Jerry's favorite sons along with the Playmaker.
• In the debate of the most valuable triplet, I've always leaned toward Troy perhaps simply because he was the QB. A few episodes in, and I'm on the Emmitt bandwagon. One thing this show does better than any other docuseries does is bring to the forefront the importance of Emmitt Smith during the SB years. Mandible Cowher tells you THE focus of his defense in the SB was stopping Emmitt Smith. As the game goes on, the nervousness on the Cowboys sideline is evident and P-burgh is doing something your not supposed to do - stop Emmitt. Dang Jerry, watch your own series and relearn what it means to get a stud in the backfield!
• Jerry told a story of something his wife Gene said when he crawled into bed after he and Jimmy decided to part ways. I wish I could recite it verbatim, because it says a lot about the man. Per Jerry, Gene lay there not looking at JJ, but instead looking straight at the ceiling (was the ceiling glass tiled, I wonder?) and she said something about Jerry just not being able to help himself, not being able to be content with the status quo, and be content in allowing Jimmy to accept the accolades for what the team accomplished. Jerry, the pot-stirrer, told the story with a gleam cuz he knows this about himself. Is he aware this is a characteristic he probably shouldn't be proud of?

That's my take thus far. I'm sure the episode I'm about to view is going to be a real crap-storm, and reveal to us all the beginning of the end. There's very little here that I haven't seen or heard but there's just enough nuggets to keep you engaged. I'd say it's worth a watch.

I will never buy that and can’t prove it but there has always been a culture problem in Dallas that manifests itself at some point. Players like Canty and Demarco have talked about it especially after playing with other teams. Also we have never been an elite team since the 90’s. We’ve been very good. If Parcells hangs on who knows but even the 2014 team never had the defense to win a SB. Jerry admits his biggest regret was not getting Romo a SB so yea - it’s all on Jerry and his management style. A play here or there is meaningless.

History repeats itself. The game had clearly passed Coach Landry by but he could not see it and would not let go. Jerry is doing the exact same thing.

It’s bittersweet. Not all the way through it, but it reinforces how special that group was.

After the rough 80’s, the 90’s were beyond special.

100% focus on dedication and winning and dominating.

Tiers above and rarified air of where we were and where other teams will maybe sniff or even dream of.

Over the years, we’ve heard Emmitt being minimized by the line or Troy wasn’t that special or Haley wasn’t all that or blah blah blah.

This group really showed you that was all nonsense! They dominated with a dynasty and rings! These players are arguably the best to ever play their positions!

Now, you got guys who can barely win a playoff game every three years.

It’s like Mount Rushmore vs. a child’s diorama.

That era was glorious!

I loved watching the documentary. It brought back some great memories of games i watched on TV and in person.

One thing this documentary solidified for me is the credit that Switzer deserves. Switzer was more important to that 3rd Superbowl win than people have given him credit for.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you. Some of those players that played key roles in that Superbowl win weren't all Jimmy's players.

To add to that, Switzerland deserves his credit for helping to coach that team to a Superbowl victory. Would Jimmy have won more Superbowls had he stayed in Dallas? Absolutely!!!

But to say that was Jimmy's team or all of his doing is false. Jerry deserves half of that credit for those Superbowl teams.

If it was all the doings of Jimmy then he would have easily duplicated that Superbowl success bluepront in Miami, but he didn't.

I've lived thru the Landry, Jimmy and now the present years. This was fantastic. Kinda rekindled my love for the Cowboys and oddly enough I'm liking Jerry again. He does at least try.

I will never watch this if a byproduct is liking Jerrah, the worst GM for 30 years.
