This is a team coming off a 7-10 season that's headed to another 7-10 season under a new head coach. That doesn't change whether Micah plays or not. Rebuilding a roster - and this is only a semi-rebuild, not a full overhaul - takes some time and patience.

As such, Micah has no leverage here. Signing him or trading him to Siberia for a bevy of picks both make sense, but neither has immediate implications. There's no championship run ahead this season to be panicked over. It just doesn't matter right now.

There's also a power component to this on behalf of the owners. Salaries have gotten crazy high, and agents have gotten more and more big-headed and power-trippy. Jerry is rubbing Micah's agent's face in the poop and throwing him out in the backyard.

Jerry feels Micah welched. Micah feels Jerry is trying to squeeze him. Both are correct, but Jerry holds all the cards.

The best play here is to let this play out. Perhaps a team will flinch and offer a treasure chest of draft picks. That would be terrific. Or, things settle down and they get this deal done. That's fine, too. But time is NOT of the essence to the Cowboys on this. They made at legitimate offer, and they can wait a lot longer than Micah can.

For once, Jerry is actually playing this well.

I look at it the exact opposite. Sign him or trade him today. Neither is a bad option. The only thing that really hurts this team is to continue to let this play out and be an ongoing distraction and hurdle for a 1st time HC. If the Cowboys feel that Micah isnt worth what he is asking why would you not trade him to another team that will pay him? Let another team around the league sacrifice two 1st round picks and suffer the cap consequences. In theory if Micah's demands are that outrageous to where it would be a hindrance on the team then we should want to send Micah to Washington or Philly as soon as possible, right?

Also how do we know that the Cowboys have made a legitimate offer?

This is only a distraction to the media and the fans that let the media make it a distraction. The players on the field are gonna play in the coaches out. There are gonna coach. None of this Micah crap is gonna change how they play.

They got worse because of injuries. If Dak and everyone else doesn’t get hurt they are probably still in that 10 to 11 range. The talent didn’t get worse.

Like I said earlier I don’t believe there is any difference between 23 or 25. I don’t want to be where the Commanders and Giants are at. I want a team full of hungry good young players.

And in the Cowboys defense they do have that. I just don’t know how good the Elam’s, Murray’s, Sanborns are but they did check off the youth and hungry part.

3rd youngest team in 2022. Here we are in 2025 with the 3rd youngest team again and have they gotten any better? Has it lead to anything.

One thing that wasn’t really brought up about Micah’s trade request is how it was worded. He doesn’t write that, his agent does. There is very specific wording that goes into it that is vetted and PR’d to death.

In a normal “trade me” tweet, the wording will be something like “I wish I could be a Seahawk for life. I don’t really want to leave the team, but our negations have left me no choice”. Micah’s was nothing like that, it was roughly “get me off this team. I don’t want to have anything to do with the cowboys anymore.”

As always, could be wrong, but this doesn’t feel like Jerry is waiting for a midnight deal week 1. There’s a real problem going on

I have no problem with what Parsons is doing. Hundreds of players have done it over the years. I pointed out yesterday the revered Emmitt Smith held out while he was under contract.

Some fans dont want Parsons to get paid.

Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys. The fans are not the Dallas Cowboys. If the current situation with Micah is acceptable to Jerry it is acceptable to the Cowboys. No other opinion matters.

I disagree completely. The time to trade Micah would’ve been after the GB game if you felt like the roster wasn’t competitive. They re-signed (and both negotiations were also bad btw) 2/3 of their best players insinuating from a roster perspective they were more in than out. Acting like the Cowboys can afford to tread water in a middle of the pack draft range potentially is just another waste of a year. If you’re not competing then you need to be tooling up. They’re doing neither. Absolute failure from owner to roster management. Sitting around to see who blinks first is the absolute worst thing they can do so of course that’s what’s going to happen

Exactly. Somehow, Jerry and Stephen have managed to perfectly thread the needle to make sure that they did the maximally unhelpful thing for this roster.

You either needed to get ahead of this and trade Micah when his value was at an all time high, or simply resign him early and save yourself the money.

What is going on now is just madness and a complete failure of leadership from the front office.
