If a man wants to die he should damn well have the right to die. Anyone that says otherwise should die. ;)

I think America should probably think about giving up its rights, because most people arent aware of them, the confused have no problem with people telling them how to live and any question that some people arent used to is one they dont want to give an answer to.

How can suicide be illegal? Yet it is, if you have the right to drive your car off the road with no witnesses, its deemed an accident and people call you stupid while reading it.

Not everyone feels the pain of cancer, but they have no problem telling you to deal with it and live as long as you can.

Yet Dr K, lives on BECAUSE he wants to and some people question that, hes not the one who wanted to end his life, he just helped people in pain, and if you read clearly, he gave them 3 days to think it over. But other people have to run around telling them how to live their lives while not experiencing it.

Much like politicans who tell cops they dont need guns WHILE they dont go down the streets the cops have to.

Of course infants shouldnt be killed, when they come out they are labeled babies, we dont expect babies to make their decisions, just survival skills, crying for hungry, diapers to stop the function of the body. Babies arent choosing the car they want for the future at this particular time.

People have got to make their own choices, its a word we dont like in america anymore, its called responsiblity and the choices we make we have to be held accountable. We arent anymore, but we should or at least have some kind of thought to it.

My life has nothing to do with yours, why are you choosing to make that choice than?

You missed his point completely. (probably intentionally) Your scope of view on this subject is so small that you refuse to see the other side of things. Even if you disagree with them.

No, I get the whole scope of it. I watched my dad die from cancer. He decided not to take treatments after a while and died in a shorter amount of time. That's completely different than putting yourself on a machine that will kill you prematurely.

And I understand the other view. I simply disagree with it. It's not that hard of a concept to understand.

I've always thought it was pretty stupid that our society allows for the murder of unborn children without any sort of consent from the dying party but it is illegal for the same doctor to help a terminally ill patient who is willing to die do so with dignity and without pain. Just more proof that our laws are formed not on any moral or ethnical grounds but by the agendas of those in power.

I have no real opinion on Kevorkian because I have no idea what went on behind the scenes, however I have no problem with someone who wants to die being allowed to so long as they are of sound mind.

We don't value life at either end of the spectrum. That's the problem and that's why I am against euthanasia. I don't like killing unborn babies yet it is legal. I don't like killing those who can't speak for themselves (Terry Schiavo) yet it is legal. And I don't agree with helping someone kill themselves because the odds are they are not in a good frame of mind to make that call. If they are going to kill themselves, they shouldn't implicate others.

I disagree that "most" arent in a good frame of mind. The majority of terminally ill patients are not mentally impaired. Some people choose to fight on, and that is admirable, but those who are willing to concede should be allowed to die free from pain and from the shame that comes with becoming unable to think and do things for yourself. Letting doctors help makes sure that people who take this path don't suffer and don't become vegetables by accidently failing in their attempt to end their lives on their own.

People with the end in sight will ALWAYS be trying to kill themselves, the only question is whether or not we give them a civilized way to go about it. Nothing good comes from a man with cancer putting a gun to his head, but there is dignity and peace that comes with going out by medical means. Personally, I believe killing yourself is wrong and I would fight until my lasbreath, but I can't blame someone who wants to end the pain and don't think the government has any right to legislate how I choose to live and end my life so long as it doesnt harm others.

Until the government gets out of the murdering business at both ends, there will not be an agreement on this.

I do however think it is a personal decision about ending your own life. I think it is morally wrong to ask someone else to do it.

What if they are incapable? For instance bed ridden in a hospital? Or in a vegetative state?
