If that's the case, if they miss out on Graham, not much fall off to the next guy.
Hard for me to understand the talent of DTs..........I know you have exceptions ( Giants DT and Carter ) of players who are elite run-stoppers and pass-rushers. But then you a guy like Jordan Davis ........a run-stopping beast but not much pass rusher. Just seems to me, that unless you can draft blue-chip DT, I'm not sure it's worth burning a mid-late 1st rounder on one. Especially if your priority is stopping the run. My point is it shouldn't be hard to find 330lb+ hard-working DT in the late rounds

Ultimately you want to find one of those unicorn interior DT's who can do both. The one Cnuball just mentioned, Harmon is Dane's 14th overall prospect. Believe he has Graham at 9, so they are closely rated. I agree, you take one later, they become very hit or miss. Usually, the pass rushers go on top of the draft, where those run DT's start coming off the board on day 2, early day 3.

I started a thread with a few nuggets from Russini from The Athletic site ( typed in coz I couldn't link ). Not sure if you have their subscription its a good read of what she's hearing from around the league. She mentioned more teams are looking at having a more physical offense via running game. She used the Lions, Packers, Eagles, and couple other team who have seen lots of success with a strong running game. My point is I don't think this just started this year. I think it's been trending for a few years. It might also explain why suddenly over the last 3-4 years the DT value position has gone through the roof. Eagles have two 1st rounders and burned a 1st on Mazi (the first time in over 25 years ).

It definitely appears the running game is trending back around........

I agree, look at all the contenders, they are all run the ball well. If we cannot run the ball nor stop it, we have zero chance. We have spent a ton of resources on the OL, yes we need a legitimate back, but they have to really bolster their dl and move away from those quick twitch, undersized guys Marinelli/Quinn covet

If you’re good in the trenches it makes life easier. I’ll never be opposed to continuing to pumping resources into the OL / DL.

Catch is with DT it’s a grown man’s position…we should still draft but it’s not going to be a big year 1 impact so we should be very active in FA at the position.

What I like about Graham is he is advanced with his hand fighting techniques, his footwork is quick and has good ancle flex and his first step is very quick allowing to constantly get across the face of opposing OL and into the gap. He plays with a low pad level and can anchor effortlessly and can handle double teams. Has a knack of knowing where the ball is and can flow down the line of scrimmage even when being doubled. His arms might be considered on the shorter range. but with his hand usage and quick feet his arms are not an issue.
This kid is strong, quick, high football IQ and has a motor for days. You put him on the DL and watch the play of the other linemen rise. The push up the middle that he will create will keep the QB from steeping up in the pocket and this allowing the edge players (Parsons) to close in.
If we can draft this kid, he might develop into the best DT we have had since Randy White. I'm not comparing him to the Manster, but I do see some similarities between the two, especially with the hand fighting and footwork.
