This draft definitely seems to be deep in Edge Rushers for rounds 1 - 3 and Cornerbacks with size in rounds 1 - 2.

That lines up great for us because those are positions of need, it seems like we will also look at OT, WR and S. What do you guys think of the draft prospects in those positions?

OT is terrible. WR is pretty good all the way through. Safety is also strong at least through the top part of Day 3.

Everyone keeps talking about OL depth in this draft (being lacking), but LB depth (esp through rds 2-3) seems a little thin as well. I know you weren't asking about that, Kaiser, just an aside.

Gonna be a very interesting draft this year (as always), coming off the success of last years draft - hopefully the Jones's can trust in McClay's board and follow it better. Picking so late in each round, it will be a very fluid draft for us I think.
After the Combine, and when we see what has or hasn't happened in F.A. we will all have a better idea of how things may unfold ( i.e. Romo, Jaylon Smith recovery, who is still here and what pieces have been added, or not ).
I feel a lot more confident then in the past that the F.O. can hold Jerry from his 'Crazy Ivan's" in the second round etc.
Good times people, good times .....

I'm not overly worried about OT, I have more faith in Green and Cleary than most and I think there is a decent shot of a veteran swing tackle being available for cheap at the end of the FA period. I could see the team spending a #3 on a RT, but also going with a late round project or two.

Secondary in general is really deep. I think you can get early contributors, if not starters, all the way into the 4th at both CB and S.

TE is really deep too, a lot of big, athletic pass catchers out there. Along with WR's...but that's pretty standard nowadays

DT is pretty decent. Not overly deep, but not a bad talent pool either.

Pass rushers to me aren't that deep. I only like 5 or 6 guys that can come in and make an immediate impact, after that there's some intriguing guys out there but are all more or less a crapshoot (more so than normal).

4-3 LB does seem pretty thin. Not much out there.

Yeah, I think last year's draft was historic and fans can get spoiled by that. I think this year we get an extra pick for Romo but even then, I would happy with something like the 2015 draft where we added Byron Jones, Chaz Green, Damien Wilson, Nzeocha and Swaim.

IMO a big difference this year is that we have drafted well for four years so we don't have to pick players that need to step in immediately as depth. Even at positions like OT, DE and S the draftee will be competing against guys from previous drafts like Frazier, Tapper, Green, etc.

I'm not worried about LB with the depth we have in Hitchens, Wilbur, Wilson, Nzeocha, etc. Even Gatchkar if they want bring him back.

The edge rushers seem like they go deep in the 2nd or the 3rd, the year we draft DLaw (IIRC) they had three players targeted as edge DEs and traded up for DLaw because he was the last one available in the 2nd. This year it seems like there is enough depth that we could wait for several players to drop to our late 2nd rounder if we wanted to.

And out of curiosity who are these good pass rushers that will go outside of the top 50? So that's eliminating Garrett, Allen, Thomas, Barenett, Mckinley, Taco, Harris, and Lawson.

Just my impression, I wasn't going by specific players but I've read several things that good edge players would be targeted around the middle of the second but could drop into the late second. Draft picks do that often when they need more development time.

That's a terrible lb group. Wilber and Gakar suck. Nzeocha has never really played. Wilson is unproven as far as stepping up if Lee goes down and Hitchens is Hitchens. We need to draft a lb that can actually play

There's going to be a TE taken, possibly pretty early, and a lot of people are going to complain. This is a great year to get one though.

Cb class is as deep as I've seen it. We should draft one early and one late and be fine.

Derek Rivers and Jordan Willis come to mind immediately. I really like Willis.

Wilber is a spare but great on ST coverage. Gachkar has good speed and is a sure tackler. He is a fine backup.

Wilson was our starting SAM in the second half of the season.
By spot start, I mean fill in at MIKE or WILL. Those are the only positions that get starter snaps in today's NFL. I was impressed at his play at SAM and when he was filling in for Durant.
