What are the phrases that you hear related to the draft that get under your skin?

For me, when a draftnik says, "At the end of the day, this team is better now because of this draft class"

Well, of course, the team got better by adding players, right? I mean, exactly how are you worse off by adding talent to your roster?

Another one, is a cloaked insult toward a team. "Well, I'm really happy for this kid getting drafted at this point."

What that really means is There's no way this was a good pick, this player could have been available 3 rounds later. But.... uh.... I'm happy for the player!

How about your draft day pet peeves?

I generally dislike the whole draft day(s) experience nowadays. Its been turned into a dog and pony show, 3 ring circus. Better in the old days. Draft was Saturday and Sunday,...... that was it.
Yep.
There was a lot more video and discussion of the picks as well. Now they spend the majority of the time between picks guessing who’s next... ummm we’ll know in five minutes you tools.

Pet peeves......

Ignoring the current pick to talk nonstop about past picks or team drama.

Seemingly always going to commercial during the Cowboys late round picks.

The current format. I want it to go back to a weekend only show. I am ok with a Friday round 1. But saturday 2 and 3, then sunday 4 to 7.

Agree. It’s like Vince McMahon has gotten his paws on the draft.

Phrases:

"He's a winner." What in hades does that even mean? I find that quite often it means he won't succeed. Tebow was a winnner, Vince Young was a winner.

In some aspects I agree with you, but overall I think it's a better process spreading it out over three days, it's the NFL and if they can milk advertising dollars by holding it in primetime and event sales, they're going to do it but cutting back the time between picks in the early rounds was a smart move to expedite the process but these current and former players making speeches and comments in the second and third rounds before selections is becoming annoying...I do like the fact teams get to sit down and re-evaluate to redo their boards after day one and day two to get ready for the next day....

I know, I feel the same way about the draft. Not to mention the time, a weeknight? I have to get up early in the morning to go to work. I never see the last half of the first round. Sleep is way more important.

I like it. We have a draft day party.

And you'd be surprised at how much whiskey makes those nimrods easier to listen to!!!!!!!!!!!

Then there's the colossal waste of time dredging up ex players to announce selections.

I feel like the draft is a great metaphor for America in general right now

Make the experience worse so you can milk as many advertising dollars as you can

The ends justify the means no matter what

Too much hoopla on stage with the picks...just go up and announce the picks, talk about the picks at hand, and stay on top of them instead of getting 4 or 5 picks behind.

Today I will listen more to The Ticket than the tv idiots.

I'm having a blast so far this year.
So count me out on the whining
I don't consider it as whining when posters are pointing how the NFL is ruining the draft process. Is all of this necessary? Why don't they just announce the picks and be done with it? They are at the point of grabbing the homeless guy on the corner to announce the picks. Stop all this mess and they could be done in two days. If the NFL cared about the fans, they wouldn't have commercials every five minutes.
