After looking through countless mocks and doing them myself over the past few months, I must say we have came away with one of our dream mocks that would never happen. This is the best draft we’ve had in quite some time. The zeke draft was great but we picked #4 so it was kind of hard to mess that pick up. We got a top 5 talent that fell to 17 and a top 20-25 talent that fell to 51! Ready to see these rooks develop
I can see Lamb, Diggs, and Gallimore as being core members IF their heads are screwed on right and they want to become great. These guys all have the natural talent. They just need coaching and Lamb doesn't need much of that. The later picks are just good solid players, like Biadaz, who don't necessarily have the talent but have good work ethics. Two comments, positive and negative:
Positive - I learned long ago that while individual posters and pundits aren't always right, when you get the vast majority of them saying "good job" or "that's terrible", the consensus is usually right. When a team gets lots of good draft grades, they usually end up being happy with the class. There is a strong correlation. This draft has been universally loved. The fans and the pundits love it. The absolute worst case for this class, IMO, is multiple contributors.
Negative - I'm really not seeing anyone taken as being highly likely to be a franchise player. These guys all strike me as complementary players. That works for Dallas right now because they have their core pieces but we should keep that in mind before we go too far with lauding the group.
Overall, I'm just as happy as everyone else for what has happened. I'll take it a step further in that this is a great sign for McCarthy working with Jerry and many of us being right about the damage JG and RM were doing. This might not just mean a good class this year. It might be a sign of this happening regularly.
I think Biadaz is a good pick but not to be TFred's replacement. He just isn't good enough for that. He isn't strong enough (and likely never will be) and isn't mobile. TFred was elite in both of those categories as well as being super smart. They did a great job. Not just of picking but of understanding where other teams have guys. To get Diggs at 51 after getting the next Deondre Hopkins in the 1st rd was ridiculous. To add Gallimore and Anae to this d-ine and potentially find Fredericks replacement. Very impressive job.
Anae in the fifth is like that extra cherry you find sifting through the melted whipped cream.
Tough to tell but on paper this draft looks tip top.
mmmmmm roast lambOne of my 4 mocks had us taking Lamb and I got roasted for posting it lol, another had us getting Riggs in the 2nd but not even I believed that would happen!
McClay and his staff have been amazing besides Claiborne if he was even here for that. I’ll give him a pass on taco and hill cause of Roddle fiddling aroundI see 5 picks in the top 100 talent pool.
Home run....5 times.
Will McClay for the Draft King.
I remember kitchens being a reach. I remember Frederick was a reach. I remember jaylon was a reach. I remember woods being a steal.this is true, but every draft there’s always reach picks and head scratchers. This draft is dead on
We're not changing the name to the Ronco Cowboys! This draft reminds me of a late-night infomercial.
What if I told you
You could get a top-10 player at 17
A top 30 player at 51
And a top 40 player at 82
But hold on. If you call in the next 30 minutes.
You also get
A top 100 player at pick123
A top 100 player at pick 146
And a top 100 player at pick 179
Cowboys crushed this one
