Draft improves without Parcells?

I joined the chat in the 2nd round.

Never heard this. This is news to me.

Wow.

I'm almost 100% positive I read it in chat. It might of been a thread here though.

was it from a credible source?

Don't remember. Don't even remember who posted it. I'll do a search and see if I can find it.

Now that I think of it, I think it was a thread, not chat. ANd I think the subject line said it all. I'll look.

If thats true Jerry Jones is such a liar...

I love it.

He said, "No, trading on draft day is not a good idea." and "No we don't feel the need to go after a WR. We think there is value at WR deep in Day 1".

:laugh1: :laugh2: :D

that was just a ridiculous trade offer.

glad we didnt do that.

I cant think of a WR that would have been worth that ever.

Here's a bold statement...
Johnson won't even be the best WR from this year's draft in 5 years.

Lemme guess, is his name Jason Hill. :)

thanks.

so it was more Detroit wanting Witten than us trying to trade him.

or so I gathered...

According to that, Detroit was the one that offered, not the other way around.

Oh man I'm sorry about that. I wasn't even paying attention when I saw it. I kind of just skimmed through and assumed it was us offering it to the Lions.

I agree, glad JJ didn't accept that offer. Remove Witten and next year's first and I'd think about it though.

I'll never forgive Bill for passing on Stephen Jackson.

BP was not the only one that passed on Jackson. A whole lot of supposedly smart people did as well. That happens. Get over it.

You're kidding? Really? You mean other people passed on him too? I wasn't aware of that.

Get over yourself junior.

Landing a starting passrushing 3-4 OLB (with very good strength apparently) and a good OT prospect, oh and a likely top 5 to top 15 pick in next year's draft seems a little better that the groceries Parcells has bought lately.

I said a few months ago that Jerry evolved from being a crappy draft guy to one of the better draft guys prior to Parcell's arrival. I also defended the draft record of Phillips. I feel those posts were validated today.

“This is my first draft with Jerry — and he’s a wheeler-dealer!” new coach Wade Phillips said.

Jones spent the last four drafts getting Parcells’ input into every pick. With Jones squarely running the show for the first time since 2002, the Cowboys’ draft room was interesting from the start.

Lord help us.

I agree with you, especially, if you mention Ireland gets listened too a little better with BP gone!

actually, this draft looks identical to what BP would have done in the draft if he were still here... save for an Italian tough guy from Jersey in the 2nd.

:laugh2:

A high potential 3-4 OLB from a good system and a BC O-Lineman...
thats got BP written all over it.

True.

I think when I credit Jerry for running a good draft, I would think it goes without saying I am crediting him for being disciplined in listening to his personell staff and not just falling in love with a guy ala QC.

I think getting contributors and landing a likely top half 1st next year makes this a good draft even if the 2 main targets turn into bench fodder ala Parcells's picks.

I think my main concern is that we drafted another outside pass rush specialist #1. How many years is that for Jerry now? I imagine I feel like detroit fans with WRs. Stop looking for another Charles Haley already. Just go sign us another consistent producer ala Leroi Glover. I would rather we just go out and sign guys and quit with the spending of #1's on spots that seem to not pan out that often.

That said, this guy should be at least an ekuban level player, and that isn't bad for the 2nd best thing Dallas yeilds out of this draft --- the best being cleveland's #1 next season.

This draft isn't even over yet. What the hell are you talking about?

It's too early to say this draft was better, the same, or worse then BP's drafts.

It's not like we drafted bad under BP anyway. I'd say we drafted extremely well under BP (or is anything less then a 100% success rate considered "bad"?).

The best drafting we have done since Jimmy was with Parcells.

Before you wipe Jerry's arse too much thank Miami for being idiot enough to take Ginn and not Quinn.

Funny how Jerry is never to be given credit but only blame.
