no offense...but THIS is what I mean. We are enabling them to continue the bone headedness that has this team at a mediocre level. The flogging if you will,is going to continue until we find a balance in the way we handle free agency and the draft...I don't have a issue with the fact Hitch got paid somewhere else ...I got a problem with not havin a plan in place in the first place!! Am I clear now?
...Right. I'm no fan of our bargain bin crap free agent signings, but I rather not see the team restructure contract after contract to free up cap room for guys who have yet to make a difference in the NFL.
Outside of Robinson, the WR market is beyond silly. Hitchens getting 9mil is a big risk for the Chiefs.
What if the teams plan was to draft another one to replace Hitch? Of course there is a risk that it won't pan out but it's the way the team is operating at now. This year the LB corps in the draft is strong throughout day 1 to day 3. The Hitchens pick got a lot of flack back in 2014, to be overdrafted, but yet he played admirably off the bat
SOOOOO , John..what was there plan? To simply allow him to leave? I get THAT...ok...ya got me there...but what about life afterwards? Can you name 2 guys we have on this roster now that can come in and play at the same level? You ready to solely trust a rook? If that's what your defending, its a failed proposition. The iggles and pats have shown the blueprint. You must strike a happy balance...and YES...maybe we were always gonna let him walk. Got it. But why not plan for that eventuality? See my point? The good clubs know how to do that. Hoping we figure this out fast.
Yea, allow him to leave and draft another linebacker.
Lee is worlds better when healthy. Smith is a question mark but his play improved in the second half. Face it, almost every team will have question marks at a position or two. Unless we get unlucky again where Lee blows his acl or some **** and missing the entire year, a rookie LB won't be asked to do too much his first year here.
Unless you strike the draft perfectly like the Seahawks did earlier this decade and are able to ride those cheap contracts with some FA signings. If we ignore the LB spot and take some unknown guy from some D2 college I'll join you in being upset. However, we got another month till the draft where we can either take a guy with pedigree or go for a Sparq guy who has measurables.
The Patriots are the only team to be successful for so long. The Eagles have done it for one year. Seattle had the "blueprint" too until all their key guys wanted huge deals and now they are retooling their backend.
