Welcome back fellow draft geeks. It sucks that the season it over but the draft season has just begun.

I think we should start off with a needs thread. Here are my quick thoughts on the top 3 needs:

Best available defensive lineman: I think the only spot we have nailed down next season is starting the 3 and RE with a Mincey/Lawrence platoon of some sort. I would personally move Mincey to LDE but thats just me.

Corner: Missing on Mo and Carr really hurt us against the Packers and various times throughout the year. The talent level needs to be upgraded to say the least.

RB: I do not think we should give Murray top dollar IMHO. I feel fine with Randle, Williams, and draft pick walking into next year. Hey and there might be a slight chance AP becomes available.

What do y'all think?

I agree. CB looks pretty dire to me. Carr may be cut, Claiborne only has one year left on his deal and even so he has been terrible the last 2 years and Moore is a jobber.

If you asked my preference of a first round pick it would be between DE and CB depending on who is left on your board

I think there is a very good chance CB is your best value overall at 27. Not a great class, but a very strong class at DE. Teams needing to improve pass defense may look to pressure players more then reaching on a CB

I know it's early but which CB's do you like?

Right now my favorite for us is Alex Carter. Good physical player who should be a very good zone CB in the NFL. Jalen Collins too.

Thats expecting Marinelli to return. If we go back to Man coverage I like Waynes

Carr has actually played very well since Thanksgiving...mainly because we have played a lot more man coverage...Mo is also better in man than zone.

In any case, our pass rush has also picked up since Thanksgiving. Which makes me believe are only priority needs to be pass rushers.

S is also a pretty big need in my mind. Church and Wilcox kill us at least once a game it seems. Both are SS's who should be playing close to the LOS

I agree but I do not think the Cowboys brass agrees. For what its worth, I think Derron Smith would be a great fit for what we need.

Yeah I'm afraid of that as well. I don't expect them to give up on Wilcox, but I'm just not sure what they see in Church. He doesn't make nearly enough tackles for a guy who struggles in coverage. I'm more of an Anthony Harris fan, but I'm for any new talent that can cover better and knows how to take a decent angle.

Here is a question.

Gurley is on the board at 27 and you only have 2nd rounders at CB and DE.

Do you take Gurley?

I don't think Gordon lasts that long. Gurley would be cool but I don't want RB in the first round unless he really is the BPA. I like Jay Ajayi in the 2nd though.

Would you take Gordon if he was?

I'm stuck on Gordon today. I like a lot of backs in this draft. Gordon, Gurley, Coleman, Boise kid, to name a few.

Depends on if we take care of biz I'm FA and does Minny cut AP.

If we fill needs in FA then yes I would take Gordon in one.

With Gurley you are basically looking at a RS year since he just tore his ACL middle of November. I don't see how a team with this window can do that with a first round pick.

I think Gurley should be good to go by TC.

I think the time with him will be big as far as where he goes. If you can can count on hom week 1, hes a late first early second IMO. Drops a round if he may miss time.

I like him a bit better then Gordon when healthy. Gordon right now needs some work on pass pro and as a receiver. Its not that he cant, its just Wisconsin doesnt use him that way. Dominant runner though and has the ability to be an all around back.

As a back I thin a healthy Gurley is a good fit for our offense. More of a grinder then Gordon, but doesnt have his 6th gear

If he's good to go by camp I have a tough decision to make.

I love a back with a 6th gear with this OL.
