right now houses are selling like crazy. i get several letters a week of people wanting to pay cash for my house. tempted to do it and move further out somewhere but hell, that's a lot of work.

They will in Texas since the property taxes paid are a % of the assessed value

They generally won't automatically lower the appraised value. You have to go in person and file a protest to get lowered.

Yeah, I am already home. I might consider it when the draft comes here in a few years, but not this year.

I own a lot of real estate in Dallas and protest annually, it just takes an hour or so in person and they're pretty friendly at DCAD. Now they're allowing you to protest via email, I fired off an email in 2 minutes last year and got one of my properties values cut in half.

You gotta fight it even when times are good, the taxes are not locked in forever as asserted
