Draft Predictions: one week out

I predict that Dallas is going to draft a big man on the first day. One of the first three (or four) picks are going to be size. OL, DL maybe even a LB or TE.

I predict Dallas moves down in the first round. It's the recent trend. I'm guessing that Dallas doesn't move the #28 but rather the #22.

The biggest dropper of the draft will be Rivers from USC. He's not going top 10 despite almost every mock having him there.

The biggest reach (at least according to most mocks) will be Henne sneaking into the first round.

Just first two rounds.

Scenario 1:
#22: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
#28: traded to Detroit for RW
#62: Chris Johnson, RB, E. Carolina

Scenario 2:
#22: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
#28: traded to Atlanta for #34 and 37. Atl needs a QB and will move up.
#34: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
#37: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
#62: Pat Sims, DT, Auburn

Scenario 3:
#22: Talib
#28: Jones
#62: Andre Caldwell, WR, Florida

Let the bashing begin

Johnson likely goes well before the end of round 2. doubt Jones makes it to #34. To me, Talib is value at 28 but not a good 22 pick

I can see us taking a guard or even a C who can play G as well -- but first day may be a stretch on most of these guys -- with OL we are going to get our best values with someone who needs time to develop (e.g., a guy who needs to put on 20 lb or so)

If We go big I will:bang2:

We dont need a TE, Get a OL in the Later rounds you can always develop one, LB We dont need.

WR, RB, CB..That's what We need. Mabe even a safety in the later rounds,

Johnson will be taken after 50. He might not make it all the way to 61, but it should be close.

I want a CB at #22 or #28, but other than that, if we get a player who will make an impact', I don't care what position he plays.

We'll take a corner or safety with one of the first round picks. - Duh

Now to go out on a limb. The name Tashard Choice keeps popping in my head so I think he may be our 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Since I'm a Texas native, I would like that 1st big man the Cowboys draft to be TCU's Tommy Blake. Although he had some mental issue problems, hes definitely not a bad character guy. I could see the Boys taking him in the 4th. Considering that at this time last year Blake was a projected 1st rounder, he would be a steal in the fourth. Similar to the Cowboys getting Chris Canty in the fourth round in 05.

Draft day is THE toughest thing to predict, really. Every year, shocking surprises out of left field happen that even the MOST intelligent pundits didn't see.

Really-depending on Reid's infatuation on getting an OT next year, wouldn't surprise me if he goes as far and trades McNabb to either Baltimore or Chicago to trade up. Then having a youngster in Kolb leftover, he ends up getting Limas Sweed at #22.

Yeah, yeah-I know this is extremely far fetched. But over the last month, the worst kept secret in Philly-land is Reid (yet again)going after a lineman in the 1st round.

Scenario 1

If Talib is still on the board at #22, Dallas will try to trade down with the 22nd pick. They'll then likely have their choice of Talib or Cason at #28, and they take one of them here.

The early 2nd rounder they acquire from trading the 22nd pick could be used on a RB or WR. Of course a safety might work well here too. I'd take Tyrell Johnson here if he's available and then use the later 2nd round pick on a back, hopefully a player who isn't just a complimentary back, someone like Ray Rice or Kevin Smith, though it might be a bit high for Smith here. Hardy is another possibility early in the 2nd round depending on whether he's available or not.

Scenario 2

Consider the possibility that Stewart slips to #22. If it were me, I'd take him here. I think he'll be fine after his surgery, and he's one of the few backs this year that likely will be able to handle a full load in the NFL. He's powerful, has good speed and quickness, and can run between the tackles. Hell yes I take him here.

At pick #28, you have to take either Talib or Cason. WR can be addressed in later rounds.

Scenario 3

What do you all think about this: pick #22 - Talib. Pick #28 - Cason. It probably won't happen...but what if...?

I dont think we'll be drafting at 22 and 28 either

in fact I think the odds are better that we pick at niether...I think we'll see plenty of manuevering next weekend...whether its up, down or trading for a proven WR

Kudos for being a bit bold. Henne is rising fast, but Rd1?

Yep. AZ at #50 or TB at #52 or SEA at #55 are all possible..along with some less probable slots earlier.
