Who do the Cowboys take at Pick 53 in the 2nd round?

My list of players who best fit our needs only came to 45. With that number, we'd need 8 others to get selected before our pick to get two of them.

Who would you add or remove from this list?

QB JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn

RB Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch

WR Calvin Johnson, Ted Ginn, Dwayne Jarrett, Robert Meachem, Dwayne Bowe, Sidney Rice, Steve Smith, Anthony Gonzalez

OT Joe Thomas, Levi Brown, Joe Staley, Tony Ugoh

OG Ben Grubbs, Justin Blaylock, Aaron Sears

DE Gaines Adams, Jamaal Anderson, Adam Carriker, Jarvis Moss, Anthony Spencer, LaMarr Woodley

DT Alan Branch, Amobi Okoye, Tank Tyler, Justin Harrell, Paul Soliai

LB Patrick Willis, Paul Posluszny, Lawrence Timmons, Jon Beason

CB Leon Hall, Darrelle Revis, Chris Houston, Aaron Ross, Tanard Jackson, Marcus McCauley, Eric Wright

S LaRon Landry, Reggie Nelson, Brandon Meriweather, Michael Griffin

I have a feeling that Anthony Gonzalez will be our second round pick .....

And I do not like that if it means we passed on a WR in the first round.

hearing more and more about this guy - is he good enough to step up and be a #1 or #2 in a year or so?

Here's a list of other players who have appeared in the first two rounds of various mock drafts. I left them all off our list and they'd be the ones we'd hope get selected in the Top 52 to allow our players to drop to us.

Zach Miller-TE, Greg Olsen-TE, Charles Johnson-DE, Kevin Kolb-QB, Brian Leonard-FB, Justin Durant-ILB, Josh Beekman-C, Aaron Rouse-S, Antonio Pittman-RB, Aundrae Allison-WR, Kenny Irons-RB, David Harris-ILB, Daymeion Hughes-CB, Jason Hill-WR, Mason Crosby-K, Quinn Pitcock-DT, Ben Patrick-TE, Tim Shaw-OLB, Quentin Moses-DE, Turk McBride-DT, Michael Coe-CB, Kenny Irons-RB, Baraka Atkins-DE, Sabby Piscitelli-S

He was the guy the Buckeyes went to when they really needed the completion... not Ginn.

Missing Josh Wilson. I think he'll be the third or fourth corner taken.

David Ball WR New Hampshire...his stats are just too impressive.
TE Matt Spaeth Minn. - specialty is blocking, but he caught 46 passes last season.
C Josh Beekman Boston College- can play c or G

I doubt that we'll end up picking a WR with our first pick, but I hope that we pick one shortly after that though.

I'd much rather have a Rice, Smith, or Gonzalez in the 2nd than a Bowe, Meachem, Ginn, or Jarrett in the 1st.

He actually has pretty good "quickness numbers" too...just a bad 40 and low level of competition.

TRUE!! Ginn was more of a huge play/ game changer/ touchdown type of scenario

I don't think gonzalez has what it takes to be a big play wr. Maybe a 3rd down guy nut no big play capability. At least not in the nfl

I don't think he'll be there when we pick in round 2.

The guy has 4.46 speed. Which is superior to Bowe, Rice and Jarret.

In fairness to Dwayne Bowe, he did run a 4.40 in one of his pro day 40's.

Anyways, I think Gonzalez will be a decent NFL WR.

you mean like in the Florida game?

did he get open even once?

I really think Gonzalez is destined to be a mediocre to run of the mill 3rd WR at best...I'd just assume stay with Crayton...bigger, runs good routes, has just as good if not better hands and is an outstanding blocker

and I'd still much rather have Bowe, Jarrett, Meacham, Rice or even Ginn ahead of Gonzalez...for a guy who supposedly had such great speed, I never saw him runnign away from anyone in games I saw OSU play...his longest catch last yr was a meager 33yds...that blows, especially considring how overmatched most opponents were vs OSU...and his lognest catch in 2005 was even shorter, 29yds

sorry...this guy looks like an average at best player in the NFL to me...I certainly wouldnt draft him on the first day, especially the first two rounds

I think the post was talking about the top 45 players

our pick in the 2nd round is 53rd overall

perhaps they were too quick, that could explain why he uncharactilisticallyaaklfjdaklsfjda dropped balls left and right at the Combine
