I still dont like him before the late 3rd/early 4th round..He looks completely lost in coverages at times. He seems to be more of a FS than a SS.

we need a free safety, not a strong safety.

We could use more of a coverage saftey without a doubt. I want one that can do both, stop the run and cover.

HUH? I think you meant a SS,not a FS.

no, we need a free safety. we then can move Hamlin to his proper position- which is strong safety.

Hamlin should be a SS, not a FS.

We need a FS that can cover ground and allow Hamlin to control the box.

Slate, do you like Smith as a CB or Safety because I read he is more of a CB even though he's a tall dude.

WHAAAAAAT!? Hamlin at SS? Kill me now. I would put Keith Davis at SS before I put Hamlin there. His natural position is FS. He went to a probowl 2 years ago playing that position with Roy playing SS.

I like him as a Safety. Your right, he's extremely tall to be an NFL CB, which makes sense for him to play safety. I could see him reaking havoc as a SS. He could lay the lumber and be a complete ball-hawk that we so desperatly need. I've noticed that he doesn't break on the ball very good as a corner which could ultimatly drop him out of the first round.

We need to take a serious look at Rashad Johnson from Alabama or Louis Delmas from Western Michigan. Both of them have the ability to be the ballhawking FS this team desperately needs. Of the two, I prefer Delmas because he can hit and plays the run better. He reminds me a lot of Dawkins.

People say "Hamlin can't play FS".

How do you know? Fact is, none of us know if he can or not. I guess you can point to him limiting the # of big plays over the top in '08, but overall, the season was a big disappointment.

Parcells wasn't overly concerned about the distinction between FS and SS. I remember when he had Woodson and RW back there, he said that he didn't used them as SS or FS, but as co-safties. Of course he had a crafty veteran in Woodson and a not-yet-nuetered Roy.

My own view I think Chung would be a good addition. I disagree with those who say he is lost in coverage I have not seen that out of him and he is physical coming up on the run.

First of all, hate to break it to you, but Cowboys no longer play Parcells' schem.

Secondly, I think you meant to say "SS". Hamlin likes to go for the big hit, but he is a piss poor wrap up tackler. He almost always bounces off offensive players or is eating dirt.

And he is at his best as a centerfielder b/c his man2man coverage reeks. Hamlin at SS would be scary. No one wants to admit it, but Roy is currently the best SS option on this team. After Roy it is Killa, not Hamlin.
