Draft scattershot 4/1

What do you mean by tailed off? In pass rush productivity?

You understand he almost missed an entire season due to injury and switched positions right?
Yeah, fully aware of the position change and injury. His play tailed off, missed more tackles, was found out of position quite a bit and his overall awareness of the game never progressed. I like the player and would probably taken a chance on him - but he's football smarts isn't the greatest and we've seen too many of those players fail in the NFL.

I'm hoping Dallas is moving more and more to drafting smart football players, not just athletic freaks.

I mean...you are kind of making my point.

His missed tackle percentage did jump a little after changing positions and playing more off the ball.

His best football is rushing the passer and playing spy.

Alot of CB's play the boundry on run downs and move to the slot on passing downs. Just because you play the slot doesnt mean you come off the field in nickel. Money doesnt dictate that he shouldnt play the slot, the fact that he isnt good at it should
Like I said above it’s not about what I think its what I’ve observed. I’ve seen this team play guys like Zeke over Pollard despite Pollard being better. They run this team like a business. Until I see otherwise I’m gonna continue to expect to see Steele and Guyton starting, Bland on the outside, etc.

Who said anything about Bland being an "exclusive" slot corner?

A slot corner exists in nickel and dime sets - probably 60% of snaps. The other 40% Bland can move outside.
Yeah I just personally don’t see them
Doing it. I mean they just came out this week and said they are looking for a nickel corner. Maybe it was a smokescreen. I tend to believe they don’t want to play him there and I don’t think he wants to just like Tyler doesn’t want to play tackle.

At no point his career was Pollard better than Elliott was when he got paid in 2019

Jalen Ramsey played a ton of reps in the slot. The contract doesn't matter.

He'll still be on the field every play.
Ramsey is not a slot corner..just because he shares time in the slot doesn’t make him a exclusive slot corner.

Like I said I’m not arguing it’s a fact slot corners get paid less than guys on the outside. It’s just what it is. And that trend wouldn’t stop with the Cowboys who make moves based on financials.
Ramsey isn't even a corner anymore. He was moved to safety which can include slot snaps. Just like Jalen Thompson may do in the Cowboys scheme.

Good list, a couple things.

I don't think Perkins translates to the NFL at all. He's got the same athletic profile as Kyle Louis and we are talking about one as a LB/S hybrid and the other playing edge at times lol. Maybe he can be a good off-ball LB, maybe not. He's too variable in the top 100.

If the Cowboys are going to trade Pickens to draft a WR at #20, they sure as heck better have a trade lined up that includes another pick in the next 10-20 slots. You can't trade him at the draft for next year's draft capital.
Why not have both?

I mean I was talking about when he was on LAR super bowl team. He moved all over, and played a lot in slot

But the point is, he isn't big enough to rush the passer in the NFL.

I disagree with your point then. He has the frame to easily pack on 10+ pounds.

Guys like Nick Herbig and Haason Reddick make / made a living out of being undersized rushers and he is more explosive than both.

The salary doesn't really matter. Slot CB is a starter anyway, and there's a reason the top WRs in the league all move into the slot anyway.
And he'd only be a slot in the nickel. It isn't like he's going to be off the field when we use two corners. He's one of the starters.

Looking more and more like Bain, Downs or Styles will fall to 12.........

This may come as a shocker but Jerry could punt on Styles even if he falls to 12.........why?

I read a nugget where he admitted scouts and coaches had to convince him to draft Parsons at 12 because he was MORE than an off-ball LBer. In other words, he was NOT drafting an off-ball LBer that high.

I know this is a Browns tweet but it could have a huge impact on our 12th pick. She's a serious beat writer and who knows.......they may not want to draft him at 6 but maybe 12.

I don't think Simpson will last to 12. He has been rising

I may be in the minority here but I have zero issues trading back from Styles especially for a good deal.

If it nets us something like a 2nd and a 4th to only move down a few spots I would be all in.
