Drafting a guard in the 1st round is looking good right about now

Bringing in Fleming and Martin and re-signing Looney indicates to me they'll not draft o-line early, unless somebody they highly value there falls way down.

But who knows with this team....

Well, no, with Cooper leaving they really have nobody who's any good for LG, except Collins, and if he moves back to guard, who'll play RT?

So little real depth on the line...
It would be absolutely stupid to draft OL 1st round. This line already has 3 first rounders and one would be 1st rounder. you are at the pretty much at critical mass for what you can spend on one unit, if Martin gets his contract.

We have a huge hole at LG, if Hernandez or Wynn is there and they are top of your board you draft them, by the time they come up for a new contract Smith or Collins will be gone.

Fleming is your swing tackle, Martin is your back up Center, Green is your 4th OT who does not dress, Looney becomes the 9th OL, if you keep 9.

In the NFL you do not need 3 elite interior OL. Maximum of 2, you do need elite LT. RT not so much. You think Jerry will let LC leave...

Says whom ? in case you haven't noticed teams are stacking their DL deep, you dont skimp on your interior OL, before Cooper cemented the role last season we struggled, and I would not want to be trying new LG every other week.

Interesting choice of words wasn't it? Lol
Athletes are supposed to be competitors. The great players are supposed to be even more competitive. If you're one of the Elite, you want to win as the best or 2nd best on your team. You want to be the main reason your team wins.

KD was on one of the best teams in the league. he made the finals. He lost to the Warriors. Instead of being a competitor and coming back to try to beat them or going to another team and getting his revenge, he joined the team that beat him.
That' s the coward route. Suh Joining the Rams is the coward route. They had a top 2 offense last year and have the best Pass Rushing DT In the league. They signed one great cover corner who's older but still a ball hawk. They also traded for another ball hawk. They have a good slot cb. They have 1st rounders on their d -line. Suh will make them better, but his impact would mean more on a team like the jets or a team that doesnt have Donald. That's like Odell Beckham joining A Brown. yeah you need help, but if you're really great, you want to do it with a guy who's not also top 3 or 4.

No we don't. Collins can play LG if needed, if the hole is so big.

Yeah but Martin will be 28 this year. By the time his next contract is up, he'll be in his 30s and it'll be time to sign the next star guard(Hernandez if its him). It's doable. you'll get a star guard on a rookie deal. As matter of fact, when its time to re-sign him, Tyron, Frederick, and Martin will be in their 30s.

We won superbowls and had the best line in the league when we drafted Larry Allen. Once Nate and the guys were gone, Larry was still young and ready to stabilize the line.

We use to have a bad team and o-line. It shortened Romo's career and will keep him out of the hall of fame.
We need to have the philosophy of keeping your strength strong and having a replacement ready at all time, the same way the Giants keep a great pass rusher. Never Allow yourself to know what it's like to have a bad line.
We need to draft the next star once the current stars reach their late 20s.

Exactly, the draft is always done with one eye on the future as well as now, get a good rookie OG in on a cheap deal for 5 years, when its comes time to pay him, your older polayers may not be here.

That should be the philosophy at wr, DE, Lb er and o-line. Draft Hernandez stick to the identity that eluded us for a decade. WE won by having a great line and great running game. We went away from it and started getting wr s and other shiny toys.
I said it year s ago that we need to stick to what helps us win the way the giants do. They win(though not recently) with multiple Great pass rushers.

We went away from it and lost and got our qb beat up. Once we drafted Tyron, Frederick and Martin, we started winning and created an identity. Now the challenge will be to not repeat our early 200s mistake of not retooling. Martins 28 this year, so draft another great guard so when his deal is up, we already have a pro bowler on the roster and we can pay him. Then in 4 years, we can draft Tyron's heir. Keep them coming. Do the same thing with Dez this year or next year. Let your future star receiver learn from your current star the way Julio learned from Roddy and Reggie learned from Marvin.

Personally, Id trade back into the 1st to get Dj Moore.

I clearly remember Leary being better than Collins.
Zeke took off when Leary got in the line-up.

Collins replaced Leary in 2015 and was named the starter. In 2016 Collins remained the starter until he injured his toe and went on IR in early October. He wasn't beat out by Leary. As far as Zeke "taking off", I also remember how Zeke wasn't waiting for the blocking to develop early on, once he did that he "took off".

No way to tell if Leary was better than Collins with Collins not playing due to injury...

We should absolutely build this team through the middle of the OL. Its never been done before so nobody will be expecting it. In fact , we should bench the TE's and play 2 G's on each side of the center and throw one in the backfield for good measure.. Unstoppable!

No Collins is a OT, when he was here in his rookie season he got beat out by Leary, if Collins moves to OG then you need a RT, Flemming is your swing OT.

That's nice. Collins was a LG when he played LG. As for RT, Free played it for us. If Free can handle it, pretty sure Flemming can't be any worse.
