I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Chad Kelly (Ole Miss) if he makes it to the 6th or 7th round.

You've replied to just about every comment I've made about Romo lately.
So what? Just pointing out that it was about RGIII and Dak and had nothing to do with Romo.

First time I can remember you responding to me about something that had nothing to do with Romo.

If the best available player is a quarterback, take him, regardless of draft round. Or, if they fall in love with one specifically and can maneuver to that value level in the draft, sure, take him.

Jason and Stephen's philosophy indicates that they don't believe in placing all your eggs in one basket. The Cowboys are a cut and an injury away from being decimated at the position. Last season, Dak started because the Cowboys lost their starting quarterback shortly after they lost his original backup.

If you think that last year is some type of indication that the Cowboys now have better luck injury wise then you are in total denial of this franchise's recent history.

Never think a squad or even position on this team is set. To win in this league, reasonable quality depth is a requirement.

They probably only take a QB if they feel they are getting exceptional value (e.g. a player with a 4th round grade on their board that's available in the 6th round).

They probably don't drat a qb in this draft. This crop of qbs is weak. It will be good for the Cowboys because 3 qbs could be drafted before pick 28 and that will cause talented players to drop with added value.

Dak had a great rookie season but I think it's fair to not anoint him quite yet...it worked out well for the Commanders when RG3 had his issues.

That being said, should we draft a QB in the mid rounds this season?

If so, any prospects?

I would say it depends on how the draft falls. If there is a QB Cowboys really like then take him. I would think if they do it would be mid to late rd pick

If there's a BPA available at QB after the 3rd round I don't have a problem with it. Or if you have a very talented, physically gifted QB that needs to work on his skills, get used to the game, etc. and you can get in the 6th or 7th round, I don't have a problem with it. The big thing is attitude. The QB has to understand that while he's likely to backup Dak his entire time here, he needs to continue to strive to be the best QB he can be, take advantage of any preseason opportunities and be prepared to be the starter in case Dak gets injured. His goal should be to develop into a starting QB prospect and when his rookie contract is up, be a viable FA (or traded) to a team looking for a starter.

That's the real difficulty in finding a backup QB thru the draft. So many of them think they have no chance to start, so they either coast along and are just happy to be in the NFL (who's more popular in the NFL than the backup QB?) or they don't want to bet on themselves and don't put in the work ethic required to become a starter someday.

They probably won't draft a QB and, if they do, it's because that player is the best available.

Its never a bad idea to draft QB's. Its a good year to year strategy. New England employs it...so it must be good!!;)!

I always enjoy your posts. Don't you think that BPA is really just an opinion?
