Michael Smith reporting that the other three teams in the running were the Commanders (Of course), Giants and Saints.

Personally, I'm glad neither of the three got the deal done.

They just locked up Furrey and have Roy Williams. Can't see them taking Calvin but with Millen, who knows.
The value of Detroit's position just went up. They now can trade down to whoever's most ga-ga over Calvin, Joe, or Brady. Millen may not be capable of doing this w/o getting fleeced but that's what I would do.

Gave up Tatum Bell AND George Foster for Bly.

Pretty big price tag, but they have proven that's OL and RB are replaced easily in that system.

I thought that initially as well, but the more I thought about it, I think Denver actually gets the edge in the deal. I believe they have the best Cornerback tandem in the NFL now, bar-none. Furthermore, Bell, while talented, seems to be wildly inconsistent and prone to fumble. I'll admit I havn't seen as much of Foster as I would like, but from what I have watched, he's a JAG, although solid.

I think it's a good trade for both teams, but I can't help but think that Detriot could have gotten more.

They have to be looking at Quinn or Russell now. Unless they shock the world and take Calvin.

Man, Denver either loves Mike Bell or is taking a RB.

Tatum was actually the 1st back Denver couldn't make work, or that they were dissatisfied w/

Well I guess now you can easily say Denver has the best cornerback duo in the nfl. Hopefully Henry starts playing like he was right after we got him so TNew/Henry is in contention with them.

Tatum was exactly what people said he was coming out of college. Explosive, but problems with injuries and fumbling. I am not surprised he did not work out in Denver because of those problems. It made him too inconsistent.

They would like to take Calvin Johnson but they are embarrassed to do that after all those other #1 WR in the draft.

KFFL.com is now reporting that there is also a draft choice going to Detroit in this trade, thought to be a 5th at this point, no conclusive facts yet.

If this is true that is a MAJOR cost for Dre Bly, who i didn't think was all that great.

I just can't believe he would be worth that much, IMO Millen may have actually made a decent move here.

I disagree and I'm surprised they got that much. They were planning to cut Bly anyway. At least they get "Kevin Jones insurance" and depth at RT so now there's a real possibility of drafting QB. They must have liked what they saw out of Quinn at the combine.

No matter where I'm drafting, I take Calvin Johnson. That type of player comes around every 10 years. Regardless if you go with the rookie QB now, or just a stinkin vet, you probably will be picking top 10 again next year. Get your QB then. Especially since none of the QB's in this draft are all taht impressive...at least most of them have alot more doubts surrounding them than most years.

In this instance Millen would be a fool NOT to draft a WR. Johnson and Roy Williams-good Lord!

I'm with you on this one, I'm just not that impressed with Russell or Quinn to use a top 5 pick on either of them.
