Dre Bly????

I think that Anthony Henry is not what is wrong with this team or defense.

From what I understand the Titans may be interested in Bly to team up with Pac-Man.

Would hate to get into a bidding war.

Would not worry about the compensation too much as I think the lions may take what they can get for him. Word is he is going to be gone one way or the other.

The problem comes into the money situation with Bly.

Dallas tienen mucho cap room.

If this has been discussed sorry but I didn't see it.

Anyway, today on Sirus Gil Brandt was asked a question about what he thought would happen with the Cowboys and he said that he knows that the Cowboys have some interest in Dre Bly from Detroit.

Said that the Boys would like to move Anthony Henry to FS and use Bly as the other corner. The caller asked what Gil thought the value of Bly was and Gil didn't answer that part, though he could have as I was talking with a client at the time and caught bits and pieces of the conversation.

I think the idea has merit but I don't want to give up more than a third for Bly because we have other needs to address as well but I don't know what Bly's value is. Is it more than a third rounder?

I would love to get Bly to play opposite Newman. My only concern is what Detroit would want in terms of compensation.

I would probably go as high as a 3rd, but that is it. 2nd rounder is a bit pricey and you can forget about a 1st, noway Bly is worth a 1st rounder.

Yeah... I might give a 3rd for Bly, but no higher. He's a true ballhawk at CB and I think Henry would be one at FS. That combo could really pay big dividends in interceptions. If we play more man coverage, Bly would be really great, and I think Phillips will probably play more man than we've been seeing. Man to man is where Bly really excels and Henry doesn't do too well in man. Therefore, if we are going to do more of that coverage, getting a guy like Bly in and moving Henry would be a really big upgrade at two positions.

No higher than a 3rd though. For a 2nd or higher... Tenn. can have Bly. If it comes down to our 3rd vs. Tenn. 3rd, they'll win because they draft earlier than Dallas does. Maybe we'd have to throw in a 7th or something. I might would do that.

Looks like Tenn is drafting 19 and we are drafting 22, probably a 7th would get it done. However, I agree with you, Tenn can have him for a 2nd rounder or higher.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...not very good business practice.

You are absolutely correct. The fact that BP wouldn't let the D be aggressive and no pass rush is what hurt our D. Henry is fine on the corner. He also played hurt last year.

Sorry but Henry has durability problems and every yeear gets torched by smaller faster WR's. We signed him to play the big WR's in our division but we only have 1 left in Burress.

Henry and his agent already admitted they weree confronted about moving to FS. Gil is saying it again and all the Mocks have us drafting a CB/OG.

I think the speculation of Henry getting moved has weight.

BigD and summer get ready to eat crow.

It truly is puzzling that people defend Henry he was horrible last year.

I didn't defend him, nor did I say he played well last year.

I said he isn't what is wrong with our defense.

You can't have 2 cover corners who never have a pass completed against them. Our inability to stop the pass has less to do with the secondary than the front 7.

Want to improve our defense? Improve the coaching & Canty/Spears.

the defensive coaching will definitely be alot better, I have no doubt about that whatsoever...phillips will do eons a better job of getting guys into positions to make plays

and we'll see alot better play from everyone in our front 7 because of it

Most of my comments were not directed at you. I just picked on your post.

Here are the common excuses for Henry.

We had no pass rush and CB's can't cover forever.
He was hurt.
CB will have passes completed against them.
He plays oppositee Tnew.

It would be funny for people to try those excuses at work when they didn't meet deadlines or expectations.

A pass rush is never guaranteed so you need a CB who can cover. If you watch the games again you will see Henry getting burnt, turned, twisted, falling down, and giving up a lot of 3rd down conversions. I don't know how much of it was scheme but it was bad.

We live in a results kind of world and Henry did not live up to the money he is making.

Last comment I totally agree with.

I think Bly would help a lot. He would make a ton of plays and Henry would be excellent at FS. I would give up a 1st and 2nd for Bly and Detroit's second.

You wouldnt trade Fasano for him? Also, Bly Im sure is getting paid alot as he was one the highest paid corners after he left St. Lou.... He has great ball skills and apparently QB's are afraid to throw at all 5'9 of him..

I do remember the cowboys in the redzone and no jump balls to 6'3 T.O with Bly man coverage on him

my only real criticism of Henry is his durability. His lower body has been weak since we got him.....that nagging, lingering groin injury 2 years ago and then the knee last year. I would like to see him play an entire year with us and be fully healthy....

Fasono was one of the worst 2nd round picks Tuna ever made. Him being a Jersey boy and Tunas fetish with TEs, well we know how that turned out.

Normally, you can get some very good players in the 2nd round (if you know how to draft that is).

I just feel that a 1st or a 2nd is too much to give up. Houston is supposedly offering Carr for a 5th and there are no takers. Baltimore gave Tenn a 4th for McNair if I remember correctly.

Draft picks are like gold, especially high picks. To give up a 1st or 2nd, you better be getting one of the top players in the NFL at his position.

Bly is good, but I dont rate him as one of the best in the NFL.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The league leader in batting balls while playing injured deserves our defense:starspin

I'm all for it. I may be showing a little Tarheel homerism but hey, he's good corner as long as we don't have to break the bank for him.

How can anyone look at these numbers from the first page and NOT want Bly over Henry?

Or is it Henry over Bly?

Or is it neither?
