If this has been discussed sorry but I didn't see it.

Anyway, today on Sirus Gil Brandt was asked a question about what he thought would happen with the Cowboys and he said that he knows that the Cowboys have some interest in Dre Bly from Detroit.

Said that the Boys would like to move Anthony Henry to FS and use Bly as the other corner. The caller asked what Gil thought the value of Bly was and Gil didn't answer that part, though he could have as I was talking with a client at the time and caught bits and pieces of the conversation.

I think the idea has merit but I don't want to give up more than a third for Bly because we have other needs to address as well but I don't know what Bly's value is. Is it more than a third rounder?

He is a serviceable CB. I would not break the bank for him dollar wise or in terms of compensation, but if we really are moving henry to safety that gives us alot more flexibility going into the draft.

I don't know. Henry really had some problems last year at CB. He does have good ball skills and he may best suited for that position. He got hammered several times last year!

Compare the 2... Bly is about a year younger and has been more productive as of late than Henry... Both are very solid #2 corners and the nice thing is they are interchangeable if an injury were to occur.

Why? You think a rookie coming in will be more productive?

I think Pat Watkins could be as productive, and Henry will do better at CB next year

I would love it.. Newman/Bly/Henry/Williams.. sounds like a great lineup to me.. Bly would be one of the best #2 corners in the league, and having Henry back there would free Roy to come wreak havoc in the box.. I would be bummed about not seeing more of Watkins, but he would still see action..

Henry has pretty good ball skills. He plays the ball better than Newman. He got out of position too often because of his injury (and perhaps a lack of speed). I don't think Bly-Henry is that much of a better CB-FS combo than Henry-Watkins, especially when you consider the money.

Whatever. I guess Bowles should know Henry and his capabilities.

I agree and we would also lose the physical play of Henry at the CB position vs. a much smaller Bly. Henry had some knee problems last season that slowed him down, he still went out and played but not to the level he is capable of

From what I understand the Titans may be interested in Bly to team up with Pac-Man.

Would hate to get into a bidding war.

Would not worry about the compensation too much as I think the lions may take what they can get for him. Word is he is going to be gone one way or the other.

The problem comes into the money situation with Bly.

The really great thing for Dallas is how Henry gives the team options. We already know that he is a solid corner. We also suspect that he would be a solid saftey as well...

Henry allows Dallas to add a DB that they like without being desparate. The Cowboys can be picky because they have a guy who can fill several holes if need be.

I actually think it would be a good thing to bring in a young corner, whether you move Henry or not. Anthony has had some trouble satying healthy, and Aaron Glenn isn't getting any younger either, although I think he still has some years. Worst case, if you do bring in another corner and that player is so good that he forces his way on to the field, Henry can easily move over to saftey.

I agree with your assessment. Henry does leave option for Dallas where they do not have to make desperate moves or over pay in the FA market. If a good CB falls to Dallas some where in the draft that may be the better move.
