Drew Henson released by Lions

He failed in two sports yet from what I can find pocketed almost 10 million dollars. Not a bad racket if you can work it. How many hits did he take all these years in the NFL? probably less then Tony does in 2 games.

What really makes me laugh is those who STILL claim he got a bad wrap and was not given a chance? Will they finally admit they were wrong= he just got cut by the WORST team in the NFL and one that needs help at QB.

The Lions do hope he will clear waivers and they can put him back on their PS. Pretty sure he will clear.

I bet he clears too - 5th year players still on practice squads? I knew they liberalized that rule? But I gues his vested time in NFL is nominal.

story in DMN this week about him being their 5th QB, said he was
reunited with his college QB coach and they were redoing his
throwing motion going back to how he threw in college.

you gotta think if somebody tries hard enough and hangs in there
as long as he has it might one day work out.....or not.

He has had about as many chances as someone who has never done anything as I can remember. And he has blown EVERY ONE. Time for the whole NFL to dump this turd once and for all.

at least he keeps trying. he got all this money, he can just quit and live a good life, but he keeps trying. i hope eventually he gets a starting job somewhere.

Only a truly stupid coach or GM would waste any more time on him now. Enough is enough.

he has been in the league too long to go one practice squad I think.

Couldn't have done much worse than Brad Johnson. Then again, neither could my grandmother, and she's dead.

I am still cleaning the coffee out of my keyboard from laughing so hard at this one!!!

Henson released; Lions bolster return units

by Tom Kowalski Wednesday November 12, 2008, 5:15 PM

ALLEN PARK -- The Lions made two moves this week to help put some sizzle in their struggling return units. First, Aveion Cason was re-signed to the team and WR Brandon Middleton was released. Cason is expected to return kickoffs against the Carolina Panthers.

Also, late this afternoon, the Lions claimed WR Adam Jennings off waivers. JenningS, who was with the Atlanta Falcons, could return punts for the Lions against Carolina. To make room for Jennings, the Lions released quarterback Drew Henson.

This move, though, doesn't mean Henson's days in Detroit are over.

The Lions would like to bring Henson back for a full offseason which means they'd like to re-sign him before the regular season is over. The Lions could do it as early as next week or they might wait a couple of weeks to see if Dan Orlovsky will eventually have to go on injured reserve with his right thumb injury.

Until Brad Johnson, there was no QB we've ever had that I liked less. But with that being said (LOL), he would be an upgrade for us now.

Ok, like I said, no mention of PS because he is not eligible.

He was already on it this year. Where would they put him if they bring him back in 1 week? The other option is the active roster and they are waiting to see if Orlovsky can go or not.

It says right in the article they are waiting to see if Orvlosky is put on IR. if they wanted to or could put him on the practice squad they could do that right now releasing a guy on their practice squad, right?

How many of you bashing Henson now thought he was the second coming of Staubach back in 2004 and were excoriating Parcells for sticking with Vinnieception Interceptaverde? :laugh2:
