There are 18 first-team 1970's all-decade receivers in history. 17 have a place in Canton but not the 18th, Drew Pearson.......that is an utter disgrace IMO!!!
This is blasphemy.

Here's how he stacks up according to pro-football references rankings.

Yea, that’s really playing to the crowd. I’m embarrassed for Drew.I hate that Drew didn't get in, but the camera's were there only because he allowed it.
Hall of Fame? Hall of Shame is what it should be called.
That TD would be called back today. And we wouldn’t have the Hail Mary. Vikings would have gone to 5 Super Bowls in the 70’s instead of us.A highly memorable portion of my adolescent years were spent watching this man work his magic with #12. They really should be in the Hall together. So many big plays, so many big moments.
no way they over turn that. That TD would be called back today. And we wouldn’t have the Hail Mary. Vikings would have gone to 5 Super Bowls in the 70’s instead of us.
I'm no Jerry fan, but you have to keep in mind he didn't get in as a general manager or for winning Super Bowls, he got in as a "contributor" to the NFL, and in that category he certainly does have a claim. He's been one of the biggest promotors of the NFL since he bought the Cowboys and has been a big part of building the financial success of the league.Ever since Jerry got undeservedly voted in, I concur.
IDK. Pretty obvious he pushed off. Lolno way they over turn that.
it would have stood.
Are you saying this because you think it would have been called pass interference on Pearson? That TD would be called back today. And we wouldn’t have the Hail Mary. Vikings would have gone to 5 Super Bowls in the 70’s instead of us.
The only thing that stands out is how the two Steeler WRs are undeserving. Pearson is a borderline candidate at best. Swann and Stallworth likely are there because of the four championships only. But just because Pearson compares favorably to them doesn't mean he is deserving. On this metric he is well below the average and unlike other "below average" guys (aside from guys from the 60s where they hardly ever threw) he didn't have the big numbers - for example, he got a rating similar to Art Monk ... but Monk has almost twice as many career receptions.
I get that people are disappointed but there are a few players that have been waiting a long time too. Harold Charmichael just got in this year, has some better numbers than Pearson. He also waited a long time.
no way they over turn that.
it would have stood.
As an athlete he controlled his fate and his career by his play on the field and now his fate rest in other peoples hands and he has no control over it. I think that is the hard part for competitors like Pearson.
That and his career ending as a result of a car accident. He didn't really leave on his terms.
Did you miss the Vikings against Saints in the playoffs a couple weeks ago?IDK. Pretty obvious he pushed off. Lol
Ask the saints. lol
