So, on the eve of training camp - just thought I'd ask, who or what positions will you be watching mostly this upcoming season for next years draft.
For me, I hope QB can now be addressed internally. But if not it has to get strong consideration.
But I'm looking at DT (AGAIN), FS and a stud RB. You ?

I'd agree with you on FS but we need to see what we do with Byron Jones first. He might be the best FS prospect. If we lose some CBs and play Jones at FS, I would say CB becomes another big need. I would say DT but I really don't know anymore. Seems like we're stocking up on guys who can play DE or DT. Even our best "true" DT, Crawford, started last season at SDE. I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever draft a true DT while Marinelli is here or if we'll just keep stocking up on guys who can rush from the edge and inside. RB all depends on this year. One of our guys might break out. And even if we did go RB, I doubt we'd do it in the 1st unless an absolute stud fell to us. I'd also keep my eye out on a LB depending on what happens this year. Lee is 29 and hasn't been healthy in 3 years. McClain is a knucklehead and might be out of the league next year. If I had to guess, I'd say we'll get the best LB or CB available in the 1st.

A DT that could collapse the pocket would be my #1 priority.

It was #1 for me last year and i'd say it's still our top need.

RB will be at the top of our list I hope. That power back out of Pitt would be my first option.

The list is long like always.
QB- is the #1 thing i'm looking at this year.
FS - this is fluid and really depends on Byron. Could very well turn into us needing another CB instead.
LBer - We are going to need a SAM and depth for ST's. Also who really knows with Lee, could end up needing a WIL too.....
RB - I think we have to find our guy in next years draft. I don't envision JRan being here next season.
TE - I'm not sold on Escobar yet and Wit is getting long in the tooth.
RT - I'd like to try and get a better swing tackle on the squad and eventual RT.
WR - Still waiting on a burner and ideally a guy who can have an impact on punts and kickoffs
DT - I think this will be a highly drafted position next draft. Need to get a better Hayden.

I am hoping that Terrell McClain will push Hayden into a role player position more then the frontrunner for the1-tech this year. (And gone by next) Not because I do not like Hayden, far from it - he gives 100% effort all the time. I just believe that it's a position that could and should be upgraded. I have given up hope that our front office would grab a stud in the first round to solidify the run stuffing role after the last couple of drafts. But I do hope a second or 3rd rounder could be picked up next year. Coleman also looks like so far he might have had the lights come on, I know, early yet. But I do think it is still a weak spot up front. Obviously my opinion and not Rod's .....

Greg Hardy, Tyrone Crawford, Rolando McClain, Jeremy Mincey, Morris Claiborne, Nick Hayden, Corey White, Kyle Wilber, Danny McCray, and Jack Crawford are all UFA's after this season. That's 10 of our expected (22) defensive 2-deep. 5 of those 10 are defensive linemen, so DL should be a priority come draft time.

DT - I think this will be a highly drafted position next draft.

Based on exactly what?

The Cowboys have repeatedly said they don't value the position and consistently avoid drafting there with a high draft pick.

It always depends on what is available to you at your pick. They have high picks everywhere else on the defensive line. It would not surprise me, and I'm hopeful, that they spend a higher pick on the position. When I say high pick i'm talking about rounds 1-3. Will they spend a first? Probably not, but I can easily see a second or third.

With the Cowboys, it doesn't depend on who is available when they pick and they aren't spending a top 3 pick at the position unless a Gregory type player falls to them. It would really surprise me if they went that direction. They didn't even take one in the entire draft a few months ago.

I think it still very much depends on who is available, more so than anything else. Things didn't fall the way we thought they would last year. There were backs that many of us liked that were available, but the boys didn't like them. This team follows the board more than I have ever seen them before IMO. Lets not forget that a solid 1 tech that has some pass rush ability and can collapse the pocket is a very rare commodity. If that guy is there I have a hard time seeing us pass on him.

It'd be nice to get one, so we don't feel the need to over pay Randle, but assuming we pick 25-32, we should take the BPA regardless of position. Literally, you could make an argument for just about any position.

DT RB ILB CB SS ( I'm not a huge fan of Mr Church) If the comp oicks are what I think they could be 1,2,3,3,4,4 so that's 6 picks in the first 4 rounds. I can dream
