For the most part, fans were really hyped about our defense last year and wanted to run it back with another corner and a DT.

Simply re-signing these guys, all of whom know our system, are known by our coaches, and who all bought in last year is pretty remarkable.

This is our best off season in ages.

Hankins and Mazi Smith please
That would work, but it doesn’t seem as if Smith will last that long….

And I really think they won’t use a first on a DT unless it’s a generational stud. Doubtful they see Smith that way.

But IMO a capable DT at 26 is the best thing that could happen in the draft. Then carpet bomb the offense thereafter.

Ive seen 0 reports of them not wanting to sign him

Saw a report several days ago he hadn’t been offered. They were probably exploring an upgrade and decided it was too expensive. Doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t want him tho.

Ive heard mixed reports but recent indications are they’re attempting to re-sign him. You gotta think if they lock him up, we’re set for the draft.

I’m holding out hope for Wags and A’Shawn.
Still have to sign a long-snapper and possibly a kicker (we have one, but kind of just a body, I believe). Beyond that, maybe a backup linebacker to replace Gifford, but we did have last year's draft pick (Harper) on the practice squad, so maybe not.

Agreed.

Hankins should have had priority over Fowler.

The inside DL needs a lot of work and signing Hankins back makes the defense a lot better.
That’s not how it works. There is no priority. It’s not one or the other. They put offers on the table and negotiate terms they’re comfortable with for each player.

All for this
