DT Justin Rogers is a unit

some players play to their size

some players play bigger than their size

some players play smaller than their size

so far Rogers is the last
I think this is kind of unfair to Rogers. He is in his second year after not playing in his first. DTs usually take some time to reach their potential. I am not expecting Rogers to be a star but I thought he looked better as a rookie than Mazi did as a rookie. I know that's not saying much but the team is desperate for one of their big guys to step up. I would be thrilled its Rogers or Toia.

It bears mention that all of the good vibes about Toia right now were being felt this time last year about Rogers... maybe more. Arguably, Rogers being let go and ending up with the Bengals just before the 2024 season started was the biggest shocker of any of the roster decisions made.

Whether that means something good for DAL in 2025... or something bad, like we should tamp down our regard for how Toia will contribute... is way down the road from here, of course.
100 pct. Of course we want these guys to be good but these are 7th round picks.

When a fan hopes a 7th round DT pans out, that’s one thing.

When the people running the team essentially count on the same…that’s something else.

Until they figure it out not much else is going to matter, and they’ve clearly spent all they are going to on the position….and on a guy we already know isn’t good enough.

I mean seriously…Osa, Mazi (seen that act), Solomon Thomas and a couple of 7th rounders? Did I miss a needle mover somewhere?

So? You don’t give up. You keep trying.
I never dissappear for long periods of time like you. I'll be here when you are long gone.
If you want to continue being my punching bag you are free to continue allowing it.

Seventh round picks are routinely less than ideally suited to become keepers. Let's try to keep any far-fetched hopes from 7th-rounders becoming anything more than that. If he somehow proves himself a suitable keeper, it should most likely be discovered by the coaching staff. We'll likely see about his chances when the time comes. Of course, there's nothing to forbid wishing him well.
Well with our DT depth he could make the team be default.

Go for it. It’s character revealing.

Does anyone else remember all the hurt feelings when we cut John Ridgeway?

Fast forward to now…buddy is on his third NFL team.
Wrong.

Officially, John Ridgeway is on his 2nd NFL team (Commanders, Saints) since the Cowboys stupidly cut him during the last day of cuts before the 53 man roster was due back in 2022. Ridgeway put up good DT numbers both in 2022 and 2023 for the Commanders while being a rotational backup DT, and he had decent stats playing injured last season for the Saints. He is getting ready to start his second year with the Saints and be a key interior DT rotational piece once again. Not bad for a guy the Cowboys cut who has contributed for 2 other teams while the Cowboys keep struggling trying to find anyone worthy of keeping.

Like we used to say back in HS, “it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog “.

Aaron Donald, even Randy White or LeRoy Glover were not behemoths , but dammmm tough and ornery.

Around here? Lol....of course there is.
I was mainly trying to share my ideas about being positive, rather than the opposite. But you're right about too much negativity often being a prevailing force here. Positivity is a hard sell here, these days.
