I understand your logic, I too like Bennett(2nd) and then Hardison(3-4), the others mentioned are later rd material and not on my main menu. Several good projects in the later rds Laterrius Walton, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and Derrick Lott.
We will have revealed this draft much of Rod M's coveted traits for the D.

I don't think Wright, Cooper, or Jarrett can be considered late round material at all but to each their own....

But yeah...I think it also depends on how he sees Brent. If Marinelii thinks Brent can play in his system then our run stuffing 1 tech need is already filled. Crawford, Brent and McClain really only leaves room for 1 more major part of the rotation. And that's not including the chances of a guy like Bishop, Coleman, Whaley, or Okoye grabbing a roster spot and a decent chunk of playing time. Oh and Hayden is still unfortunately on the team. So yeah....how early we do or don't draft a DT will probably tell us how the team feels about the current roster of DT's

I like the player. But the belief of experts is the 1 tech is arguably the least valuable position in Marinelli's defense and unlikely to be selected early in the draft, barring the chance to select a generational type player.

My prediction is if a DT is selected early(1-2) it will be a 3 tech who can contribute next to Crawford on passing downs, which essentially is 55-60% of defensive snaps.

For now, we'll likely move forward with high effort try-hard guys at the 1 tech. Maybe we take a stab at one later in the draft.

Earlier in the off season I was saying I didn't think Dallas would take him, but I'm not so sure now. Brown is more athletic and more of a complete DT than I was giving him credit for. I'm certainly not above saying that I was wrong about something, and perhaps I was about this.

If he is there and Dallas has him as the BPA then I think they very well might pull the trigger on him. He could play both DT spots, IMO, and would be a valuable part of an inside rotation.

seeing a lot of published (by so called experts, i.e. people who get paid for such opinions) mocks recently projecting DT Brown to us at 27 which surprises me since I didn't see him making out of the top ten or fifteen. For us to get him at 27 would be a dream to me and give us a ferocious DL with Hardy, TCraw, DLaw, and Brown. I think we can still get a good corner later, maybe in the second or later. R drafting a RB would get tricky though IMO.
thoughts?

If teams believe the Brown has good pass rushing skills (i.e. he can stay on the field in the Nickel) then he will go way before #27. If he does not project as a DT that will stay on the field in the Nickel, then the Cowboys won't draft him in the 1st round.

The thing is you can plug him in at 3 tech as well.

An interesting tidbit is he already has a wife and kids.

Oh I agree others will covet those players earlier but it will not make sense for us to dabble with them until later rds IMO. It will not surprise me if we choose one or more of those players when the draft is done. I have a difficult time seeing a DB in the 1st rd that I would run to the podium, other that T Wayne, I might have to add DE to that statement. We are picking 27th so the talent is a little picked over.

If we did get Malcolm Brown from Texas do you think he becomes an immediate starter as DT ?

I think he starts in this scheme at the 1T and Rotate some with Crawford at 3T. For now he probably wouldn't play too many obvious run downs as imo he lacks the ability to consistently fight through double teams. He probably would get extended time in nickel packages and get starter reps from day 1. He's the DT I want in rd 1 if they take one, at least the one I want who may actually be available at 27.

I do. That would make our DL starters Hardy, Crawford, Brown and Lawrence.

I wouldn't mind it at all. In fact I'd like to see us draft both Malcolm Browns from Texas. DT at 27 and the RB (if we haven't drafted one by then) around the 7th or better yet, as an UFA. I think he's a carry the load back and solid inside runner for those tough yards we are worried about.

This would be a draft miracle almost on par with getting Dez Bryant.

I am a fan of Eddie Goldman as well.

If everything goes wrong for us in the first round i'd love to see us trade out of that first round pick though to acquire more picks.

This is the year to have loads of draft picks.

Love the player but he seems like a 3 tech to me. Maybe he could play both but Crawford should definitely start @3 tech. If brown could play 1 tech and 3 tech I say draft him.
