A few pieces from Broaddus' column about our DT situation:
This first one I agree with completely and gets me excited to see what we will have next year with a healthy Crawford, 3rd year DLaw, 2nd year Gregory and possibly Hardy coming back:
"The next time you want to be critical of Tyrone Crawford and his so-called “lack of production,” take a moment and go back to re-watch this game. Crawford is banged up in the shoulder area and it’s clear that he doing everything in his power to fight through it. Every tackle or point-of-attack play that he is involved with, you can see it on tape that he is just playing with one arm. It is amazing that he is still able to function as well as he has given the situation. His sack on Ryan Fitzpatrick on a third down was outstanding effort on his part -- not only to get up the field, but retrace his steps to track him down. It says a lot about the type of player he is."
This other one I have serious doubts about, but it surprised me and got me thinking:
"You also got a nice effort at the point of attack by Mincey, who was lined up at the nose tackle during that series. The plan going forward here might be to keep Mincey at the one-tech and see if that’s an option for him next season."
Personally, I like a monster 330-lb monster one-tech, but Rod just does not see things my way nor do the Cowboys believe in investing a lot in the position, but I think we all agree that Hayden needs to be replaced. So, how about Mincey (he is currently listed at 280) bulking up 10 or 20 pounds and taking Hayden's place? He would likely be much more active than Hayden, but I am not sure. Thoughts?
