Duke Manyweather on Tyler Guyton

It's simple.

Smith goes to LT. Guyton to RT or swing and TJ Bass is your LG...

The only reason this is so hard is because they burned a first on a guy then switched his position, thinking they were smart.

It's one of the reasons we were bad last year.
But what happens if Steele your best tackle ?

Jimmy J would kick his ever living butt all over asthma hill! No safe spaces on the Cowboys budd. Hell, send him off to El Salvador for a weekend tune up! Ty and God Bless…
Parcells would tell him, "I've got the plane ticket in my drawer. Don't make me give it to you."

Duke is pretty much THE guy for lineman. Many of them (Lane Johnson etc) work directly with him.

He’s pretty in tune with OL work. When he’s trying to be nice that’s a terrible sign.
Thank you. I didn't know him.

I interpret his statement as meaning that Guyton has the potential to be great, he just needs to make sure he puts the work in.

It doesn't seem that provocative and I'm sure the Cowboys O-line coach feels the same way. In fact, how is that not true for any player in the NFL unless hey truly lack the physical qualities required?

It's up to every player to put in the proper amount of work, a pretty elementary observation.

Did he elaborate further?

Yes that's what it feels like, If they trade back they shouldn't go past 18 the chance of us picking a bust skyrockets if we go lower.
I don't necessarily agree. Other teams take players through picks #20 - #32 who end up being legit 1st round productive players. Problem in my opinion is the Cowboys stink at drafting in the 1st round.

Big mistake. Kelvin Banks had his share of mistakes while at Texas.
I wouldn't be upset with the pick. Mainly because they would likely kick him inside to RG. He could be a potential Leonard Davis at RG.

I doubt they would give up on Guyton already. Especially with a new OL coach and a new OC with experience as an OL coach.

Tyler Smith was a tackle that was switched to guard. OL switches at the NFL level are pretty standard because in college the best offensive lineman generally plays LT (or blindside tackle) just because they are the most talented the school has available not because LT is necessarily their best position.

Pretty much means Cowboys overdrafted once again in the 1st round. These repeated super costly 1st round mistakes is what keeps seriously affecting the team's ability to rebuild. Tyler Guyton should not have been taken in the 1st round. They keep overdrafting players year after year after year.

Here is a list of every player the Cowboys have overdrafted in the 1st round and in what year during the Jerry Jones era (1989 - 2024):

From recent to latest...

2024: Tyler Guyton
2023: Mazi Smith
2019: no pick
2018: Leighton Vander Esch
2017: Taco Charlton
2015: Byron Jones
2012: Morris ClayBURNED (Claiborne)
2009: no pick
2008: Felix Jones & Mike Jenkins
2007: Anthony Spencer
2006: Bobby Carpenter
2005: Marcus Spears
2004: no pick
2003: Terence Newman
2001: no pick
2000: no pick
1999: Ebenezer Ekuban
1997: David LaFleur
1996: no pick
1995: no pick
1994: Shante Carver
1993: no pick
1991: Kelvin Pritchett

The "no pick" years were where the Cowboys traded those 1st round picks away for veteran players from other teams which most did not pan out. Take a look at all of those "overdrafted" 1st round picks and wasted traded away 1st round draft picks. That is a total of 24 1st round draft picks the Cowboys mistakenly OVERDRAFTED and WASTED in the 1st round out of 36 years of the Jerry Jones owned era. THAT is a big reason this franchise team has failed for so long and continues to fail. It's because this organization STINKS at drafting, especially in the 1st round.
Byron Jones was not over drafted. He became a top 5 corner lol.

Duke played at Humboldt State and coached at College of Redwoods....he must know what he's talking about. We should just cut Guyton, right now. Please share your thoughts.
Andy Reid coached one year as offensive line coach at Northern Arizona. Anyone coaching at Redwoods has 1000 times the knowledge about football than you do. Please share your thoughts.

Good list bro!

Rumors were at Oklahoma and the Senior bowl was he was very immature.

Quitting reps, walking off the field etc. I think he matures, but may take 2-3 years for it to click.

Every scout said he was a project. So it may take a few years to hit potential
yeah like his contract year to get the bag!

Philly bullied the league last season with their OL .

Cowboys should invest in the best linemen they can and play them at their best position, if that means pick one at 12 and Guyton moving, then they should.

Shuffle whoever, no matter draft status, but make it work.
